@edgarblythe,
Huffpost selectively showed bits of this interview on Facebook a while ago.

If you are referring to my last post, you might want to re-read what I said.
At no point did I call you a liar.

@Real Music,
I think his response was intended for Maporche, but I'm not Edgars spokesperson. Edgar is extremely patient, but again, I can't speak for him Im just going on the what I have seen over the last 15 - 20 years.

But just to insert an opinion, I would be really pissed if someone mocked me for wanting my tax refund back on time, especially when the Enfant in chief is throwing a tantrum and abrogating his responsibility.

Facebook is also not the best filter or platform to read anything on. If you want to read HuffPost, they have a perfectly good site.

And just for the record, when someone says that you should take everything that someone says with s huge grain of salt, that's not necessarily calling the person referred to a liar. Maporche said Edgar sees everything through a fucked-up filter. That's more an assessment of judgement than truthfulness.

I get called all sorts of things and it sticks. I make a rather mild post and it gets removed immediately.

@edgarblythe,
Time to go thank Mr. Reich (again) for his part in bringing #45 to the presidency. I used to be a major fan. Never gonna trust that guy again.

@cicerone imposter,
Make your own decision about Huffington Post - and other sources. Or at least go to one of the sites that has done a proper full assessment of which ones are right-leaning/centrist/left-leaning as well as which ones are reliable.

Exactly right.

CI read Edgar’s opinion and stated that he would never read HuffPost again and seemed distraught by it.

No one should ever hold anyones opinion with that much value without looking themselves....but especially not Edgar’s.

Guy can’t even have a decent discussion around his points of view. He thinks throwing Young Turks videos and tweets at us is going to advance his ideas.

If I called you anything, it was “extremely biased” and that your opinion was untrustworthy because of that bias.

There is not a single thing that you post that people should outright-believe on it’s face (true for most of us, but those with less bias get more leeway).

You could tell me it was cloudy outside and I’d still look for myself.

Smearing Bernie so maliciously should backfire. But in an age of intense tribalism I am not positive, since tribalism relies on primal emotion and just a tad of truth mixed with the lies.

@edgarblythe,
Do you think you and progressives are removed from this tribalism? That you’re somehow above it or beyond it and that the lies mixed with emotion doesn’t effect you?

Cause that’s not what I see...

Progressives are much more removed from tribalism than Establishment Democrats and Republicans.

They are holding their representatives to a high threshold of accountability and calling them to explain their votes instead of making excuses for them.

Ds and Rs need to try it. You get public servants instead of unaccountable oligarchs that way.

Given that they've formed a caucus, are quick to question outsider's credentials, and actually refer to themselves as "progressives" in order to distinguish themselves from "liberals" and "establishment Democrats" (I guess) I'm not so sure we can make such a blanket statement. From what I've seen, leftists aren't immune from tribalist tendencies — many of them cling to their political identities the way rightists cling to guns and religion. I'd really like to see less political labeling, less adoption of ideologies, and more pragmatic attempts to develop new policies that aren't immediately seen as traditional solutions espoused by the right or the left.

Making the members toe some sort of ideological line?

I only use "progressive" because it is widely used by others. I mostly label myself as a liberal, of the FDR New Deal stripe.

@hightor,
It's no ideological line, as we both have stated endlessly. It's separating the corporately funded people from those of the left who want social progress, instead of a static old line that plays mostly for conservatives, despite the rhetoric otherwise.

I found Speaker Pelosi's response to the freshman saying "impeach the motherf*cker" very instructive and interesting. She did not join the namby- pamby Dems handwringing and pearl-clutching about "inappropriate" language. She immediately swiveled and focused on all the foul language they've accepted from the "president". She said HIS words actually have the power to effect the lives of people, and Congresswoman Talib's don't.

I think Nancy Pelosi is a goddam gangster. And you know what? Even if her efforts end up being instrumental in getting serious progressive legislation passed ( green New Deal initiatives, or Universal health care for instance), she would still NEVER get credit for it from some of the Uber-liberals.
