@oristarA,
oristarA, the best I can manage is below. I bolded the words I was unsure of and gave a blank line ______ for what I could not figure out at all.

Some rough calculations on the feasibility
of a LASER, Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission by Radiation.

Conceive a tube terminated by optically flat partially reflecting parallel mirrors. The mirrors might be silvered or multi-layer interference reflectors. They latter are almost lossless and may have high reflectance depending on the number of layers. A practical achievement is 98% in the visible for a 7 layer reflector. Flats with closer tolerance than 1/100 are not available so if aa resonant system is desired, higher reflectance would not be useful, however a non-resonant system, the 99.9% reflectance might be useful.com

Consider a plane standing wave in the tube, there is the effect of a closed cavity, since the wavelength is ____ the diffraction and hence the lateral loss is negligible.

@Sturgis,
Wow, that is really cool. Thanks a lot.

The red is what you've missed out:

(1) however a non-resonant system, the 99.9% reflectance which are possible might be useful

(2) may have (an ******) high reflectance (I could not figure out *****)

(3) O.J.Hean******* "Optical *************** Scientific Publications, London 1955 *********.
