Exactly, CJ.. In the big picture, it is scary to think about.

I might be interested in seeing one of those judicial virators though...I wonder if they have more "power" than your average Joe vibrator....or maybe you just have to bribe them to get them started?

Oooh, nice "ornamental" rendition there, Walter.

That probably falls under the judicial exemption. As in, judicial Christmas gifts to one another.

What gets me is that they had a choice of this law or outlawing incest. Shocked

Okay, looks like I'm a Libertarian!!!

Gotta love this:

Quote:
Pull the Plug on Silly Alabama Law that Bans Vibrators
NEWS FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY
World Wide Web: http://www.lp.org/
For release: March 4, 1999

WASHINGTON, DC -- A judge should strike down an Alabama law that bans the sale of vibrators and other sex toys, the Libertarian Party said today -- because America doesn't need politicians deciding "which kinds of orgasms are government approved."

"This law is giving us bad vibrations," said Bill Winter, the party's director of communications. "The fact is, the government has no business interfering in any private, consensual sexual activity between one person."

What's the buzz here?

A court in Alabama is currently weighing the constitutionality of a state law that prohibits the sale of sex toys -- and makes the "crime" punishable by a $10,000 fine and one year of hard labor. The law, sponsored by a Democratic State Senator, took effect in July 1998.

A lawsuit to overturn it was filed by a group of women, including the owner of an "adult" shop in Huntsville, a saleswoman for the Saucy Ladies line of sexual aids and novelties, and a "Jane Doe," who said she uses a doctor-recommended vibrator to overcome sexual dysfunction.

A hearing was held in mid-February, and the judge could issue a ruling any day now.

Libertarians say their advice to the judge is clear: It's time to give a "Big No" to politicians who try to regulate the Big O.

"Call off the vibrator police," urged Winter. "If there is any area of life that should be strictly off-limits to politicians, it should be people's bedrooms. Quite simply, there is no excuse for these kinds of invasive, offensive, puritanical laws."

So why was this law passed?

In court, lawyers for the state of Alabama argued that legislators passed it, in essence, because they could. There is no constitutional right "to purchase a product to use in pursuit of having an orgasm," claimed Attorney General Bill Pryor. And attorney Courtney Tarver said, "We see the legislature acting within its powers."

And that's the real problem this law illustrates, said Winter:

There is absolutely no limit to what areas of your life legislators can meddle with.

"From the size of your toilet bowl to what videos you can rent; from the hours your store can be open to what kind of sex toys you can purchase -- politicians think they should be able to regulate, ban, prohibit, tax, or subsidize every aspect of your existence," he noted.

"That's why we Libertarians suspect that the thrill people get from sex toys is nothing compared to the thrill politicians get from controlling other people's lives. If you want to stamp out illicit self-gratification, prohibit politicians from getting their jollies by passing these kinds of ridiculous, unneeded laws."

On the other hand, Winter acknowledged that there is one aspect of the sex toy law that even Libertarians can appreciate.

The exact language of the bill, he noted, prohibits "any device designed or marketed as useful primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs."

That means, said Winter, "Depending on how strictly you interpret the law, it could make Bill Clinton illegal in Alabama."

Here in texas that law IS applied.. but only to a certain extent...
My aunt works for a large porn store chain here in texas
( see ! my family IS wound into this porn business.. hehe)
Any-who, the break to that law is that the vibrators you sell can NOT look anatomically correct. The vibrators for insertion can NOT have a penis head, shaft , or anything that resembles balls.
Male toys can not look like labia, anus, or boobs! Not even blow up toys.!
NOTHING on the box can SAY for sexual pleasure, in FACT they have to say other things.
Some of the boxes in the store advise thier toys used for foot stress... palm pain....neck tension... shoulder cramps.. one I saw said for use on TOES only... Laughing

So long as those rules are followed, you can sell anything.
When you walk into these stores here in Texas, you will see anal beads hanging off of the walls like Mardi Gras beads. THAT is how it has to be done. They can not have ANY sexual suggestion.
The boxes that the toys come in can NOT show any genatalia. If it does, it has to be covered COMPLETELY.. not just the little gold stars you see on some movie boxes to cover the nipple.. the entire BODY has to be covered. >sigh<
Certain other toys like cat-o-nine HAVE to say for a specific'game' , yet again, nothing to do with sex. IF the laws are broken, lets say.. you have a box in your store that shows half of a boob.. and not the half with the nipple showing.. you are fined 5,000 and your store will possibly be shut down.

Shocked

the fuk-ed up part?
The customer list for my aunts store?
Governor.. and a few of the represenatives that supposedly support this law. Many of the lawyers who backed those people up to enforce this law..
and so on
and so forth...
;-)

my aunt has them on the store surveillance
Laughing funnier then hell to see people try to duck and avoid 17 cameras in a little open space of a store.

Devious mind at work...

I wonder what that list might be worth...

Heck with running a retail store, your aunt and the rest of the extended family could probably retire.

When i visit a dirty store (yes, I do...I'm married and it's fun!!!), I am all about asking questions. It's great. "Excuse me, but which works best for anal sex?"
>>holding up "Anal Ease" in one hand and "Butt Lube" in another. <<
The sales people are funny as hell. Man, they launch into all sorts of information. Laughing

she is the accountant. she is quite ' comfortable' to say the least.
That list is kept in the event of another 'law' hitting the books to try to run that particular store out of business. This store has been hit by lawmakers 23 times in 7 years. Diffrent laws like.. hours of operation, how many clerks are in the store, what COLOR the out side of the store is.. have ALL hit the books here in texas .
Under fire? All the time. That list is gold. Actually it isnt a list. It is pictures. Laughing And I think that is why things have simmered down. This isnt a small chain store either wich is weird. You would think the law makers would go after small stores that couldnt defend themselves instead of the one most of them shop at.... Shocked

Do you have to be a registered scientist to conduct scientific testing of these objects?

Or are you safe as long as you keep detailed records of the science experiments?

12/1/05 - replaced the batteries. used for 1 hour - stimulation was provided to.........

I think if you shove a sex toy far enough up your rectum you'll see that victory in Iraq is just around the corner.
