If everyone smoked weed, this world would be a much more peaceful place. "Hey, don't worry bout it man, just pass me the Cheetos and we'll call it even."

You know. Pot would lead to world peace--but tokin' would have to be universally mandatory.

I don't have a problem with Bush's hidden tapes.

He certainly didn't say anything untoward on them, and less than one would expect. I think he answered the question on Marijuana use well when he stated that you don't want children using the president as an excuse to try drugs, and therefore he would avoid the question.

An advocate of better drug education personally, I think our society has a ways to go before a president can be honest about his past drug uses without being hung for it by the media....

What's amazing is that Bush argued that if children were to know about his drug use, that it would be a bad example if it were to be out there for public consumption.

And yet, Republicans had no problem telling our children all about Clinton's penis.

Let's not forget how pervasive all this hypocrisy truly is when it comes from those on the far right who never practice what they preach.

You know, like being a fake, gay journalist who lashes out and calls John Kerry the first potential gay president.

Or like criticizing John Kerry for lying about being in Cambodia when you are doing the exact same thing, only it's been captured on tape.

Or like being a presumed "real" journalist and getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote administrative policy.

Oh, there's just so much.

Republicans will try to make this issue seem as if those who are attacking the WH are anti-gay, or searching into people's private lives, or just head-hunting for excuses. But none of that is true.

Why?

Because there's no problem that Guckert is gay (though it does provide quite the irony), only that he's a prostitute, which I don't have a huge problem with but I hardly think is a suitable background for access to the WH or questioning our CIC, thanks very much.

It's interesting how homophobic the left really is. All those consternations about conservatives being homophobic when discussing homosexual marriage is merely a smoke screen apparently.

Verrrrry interesting...

That didn't take long. Take your failed attempt at defending this guy elsewhere; noone on the left here is charging that the guy shouldn't have been let in b/c he's gay. Sheesh!

McGentrix:

Um, it's about the H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y, McGentrix. That is why the issue of Jeff/James being a gay prostitute and yet writing political diatribes against the homosexual community is relevant. What part of that equation enables you to accuse liberals of being homophobic?

Damn!

I have got to force myself to quote posts. Invariably, someone slips a post between the one I'm referring to--and my response--

McG busted the double-speak of our esteemed one-eyed eyeball.

<But, I'm beginning to think we all do this once in a while.... Still, I liked it more this time.>

Surprised

Still think that. The irony over a former gay escort writing virulently anti-gay articles on the behalf of the admin. has nothing to do with objections to how this man was let into the WH under a fake name and without working for a news organization.

Thanks for asking, though.

Hmmm. Private conversations with someone considered a friend, but who secretely recorded conversations.

Where have I heard THAT before? it sounds rather familiar...

Is that any worse then the Clintons having a person on the payroll that was caught in w/FBI files on enemies of the Clintons? The worse part of it is, is that this guy was given access to the white house and didn't go through any back round checks. Where you upset by this, or do you practice hypocrisy on a daily basis?

i don't know either dooks. but it didn't seem to bother the right wing when hoover and mccarthy did it. or nixon. or any other president, since it's a pretty good guess that all presidents make us of the fbi's files.
