@Tai Chi,
Keetah and Yaya were admiring a pretty neon sign when we were out to dinner. Keetah then began talking about her "neon socks."

When I asked if they glowed in the dark she giggled and said, "no, they come up to my knees!"

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a fly
Wearing a tie?"
Down by the bay.

Yaya: "Did you ever think your mother might be schizophrenic?"

@DrewDad,
The boy had his first scale error. He tried to sit in a much-too-small sand bucket after having been in a huge bucket with some seawater earlier.

Yaya has been fascinated with her aunt's online courting. One guy had "kissing the back of your neck in the kitchen" as a favored activity. Yaya responded, "he might be.... A VAMPIRE!" (with her fingers as animated fangs.)

@DrewDad,
Way to look out for auntie, Yaya. High five.

(Can totally picture both.)

@sozobe,
Also on the same trip, Yaya was stung by a jellyfish.

Memorable quotes:
"Curse you, jellyfish!" (Interestingly enough, there was no use of actual curse words.)

"Daddy, if jellyfish sting things, then they can't kiss each other. How do jellyfish get married so that there can be little jellyfish?"

@DrewDad,
While playing Barbies with the girls, we'd just married Ken and Barbie, and placed them in the carriage.

The boy comes over, pulls Ken and Barbie out, and proceeds to wedge himself into the carriage. He gets a big grin and says, "go go!"

@sozobe,
The boy just had a well-check and had to get some shots.

The nurse comes in with the needle, and he waves at her and says, "bah-bah!" (Bye-Bye!)

The nurse asks, "he doesn't really know, does he?"

Yes. Yes, he does.

@DrewDad,
Awwwwwwww..... that's way too cute. (How'd he do with the shots once he got 'em? Or was she sufficiently charmed that she gave him a reprieve?)

@Thomas,
Well, the boy definitely understands presents.

Grandpa won't be joining us on Christmas Day, so he dropped off his presents early. Buddy waited until Grandpa left, but then immediately went and started trying to tear them open. He didn't even wait to find out if they were for him!

About 10 months ago, T picked up some birthday cupcakes from a bakery next to the girls' dance studio. The boy keeps trying to go in, and T couldn't figure out why. Finally, yesterday, he pushes on the door and says, "cu' cake!"

And he's started recognizing Santa. Santa ornaments, Santa little people, Santa decorations, he'll point and shout, "Ho -ho!"

@DrewDad,
So, Christmas Eve we've put out the cookies and milk for Santa and the carrots for the reindeer.

A little while later, I check on the location of the wee one, and he's happily gobbling down the cookies and drinking the milk.

I ask him, "who are those cookies for?"

"Ho ho!" he replies.

"Why are you eating Santa's cookies?"

"'Caause... cookies!"

@sozobe,
The boy is getting to be a talker, if not quite the chatterbox that the girls were.

One thing has puzzled me, though. When he wants a drink of water, he says "bye!" (Not bye-bye, just bye.)

I finally figured it out the other day.

The sign we used for water (and he was very good at it), is a "w" waved up and down.

It visually very similar to waving "bye-bye."

So.... "water" is "bye."

(He still knows to say bye-bye, though. Weird.)
