Today on return from a play date:

Yaya asks, "Do you know the sound of the Lord?"

"Um, no. What's the sound of the Lord?"

While making little hand motions shes replies, "Boonk! Boonk!"

T told Yaya that they can't go to gymnastics or dance class this week, since they're closed for spring break.

"Can I open them, mama?"

Yaya read her first word without help, today.

"A...T..."

"aaaaaaaat"

"A and T spell at!"

Of course, we were driving past a TA Travel Center....

Well, we thought so. Still, I felt it was best to let it be known in the interest of full disclosure. Wink

In the words of T, "Yaya is soooooo two!"

She's taken to deliberately trying to get a time out in order to delay the night-time routine. So, new rule is no time outs at bedtime. I hope she figures it out soon, 'cause she can really push one's buttons if she so chooses.

That's hilarious! Tell me, do you get a time out for breaking the time out rule?

We've started playing "catch" by rolling a ball to each other. Her aim is still erratic, but any time I don't "catch" the ball, she shouts, "You missed, Daddy!"

Time out is just supposed to boring, and not terribly punitive. She's figured out that time out is still more interesting than laying on the bed.

I've tried for a few nights to have her face the wall while lying in bed, as a sort of compromise "bedtime time out," but it just degenerates into a contest of wills.

She's usually not too bad once she gets into bed, but the delaying tactics are driving me mad....

Ah yes, the battle of the wills. I'd like to tell you that it only lasts for so long, but I haven't discovered the end of it yet.

Considering her genetic heritage (from both sides), a contest of wills is NOT a pretty thing.... Wink

The whole advanced language thing makes most things easier, but sometimes it's hard to remember how little she is.

Yesterday, Yaya was holding a box to her face and tootling, "Whooooooooo, whooooooooo."

When asked what instrument she was playing she replied, "A basoomba!"

Hard to believe, but Keetah is now seven months old.

She's starting to take up more signs. Yesterday she signed "dog" and "water."

"Dog" is pretty amorphous... Basically, she uses that sign for anything she likes. Kitties, kisses, Yaya...

That reminds me of something my sis told me on the phone the other night...

You know, my sister is pregnant again. That means my (now, newly) 4-year old nephew will soon have a little brother or sister... hurray! The news is still young, mind you ... she's just 11 weeks pregnant.

In any case, if everything goes well, it seems there will still be some work to be done with my nephew first... He knows about the news, you see, and has his own ideas about it:

joja: "Joja throw baby in air! Baby wont like that!"
my sister: "Er, well, so why would you do that then?"
joja: "So he can fly to own home!!"

Shocked Laughing Yesh ... some preparatory work to be done still ..
