Aww, that's really nice of you. On behalf of Stray Cats everywhere, I thank you.
You sound like a real animal lover. I am too. Most people are either dog people or cat people, but I like 'em both! I love all animals really. Except snakes. Not crazy about them!
Have you tried using cat nip to get the kitty down from the fridge?
I love dogs too but they just don't work out well with the cats. I've tried rescuing a few dogs but always ended up having problems.
I have tried everything! I wouldn't put her food up there. I wouldn't put her water up there. Everything. Cat nip, treats, everything. I think she was probably stranded during Katrina and felt she was only safe if she was up high. So, I let her live up there. She has her covered litterbox and her food and water dishes and her little bed. I cleaned off the shelves across from the refrigerator so she goes back and forth. I don't mind her living there. I just think she's missing out.
She's a nervous sort. She pulls her hair out at times. I could probably get her on some medication but I hate doing that. She has a good quality of life. She's happy so who am I to take that away from her.
Awww, I'm thinking of her stranded during Katrina. I don't blame her for wanting to stay up high.
She'll probably get over it eventually.
How are things in New Orleans these days? My cousin lived there for a couple of years, several years ago. She loved it and still has some friends there. They all managed to evacuate before Katrina arrived though.
I guess it's going to be a big job getting N.O. back on it's feet, and it's going to take a while. Have they been making some progress?

Shotgun is much more effective.
To be honest with you, there hasn't been a lot of news about New Orleans lately. The last thing I had heard was they were going to have Mardi Gras no matter what. So, I would imagine they are getting some clean up done. The evacuees were kind of upset about it though. I mean a parade/celebration being more important than getting everyone home type of thing. So, we'll just have to see what happens.
I hope B.C. gets over it someday. I'd love to see her be a bit more calm and sociable with the other cats. When she gets lonely she will start crying and I go in there and she will butt heads with me (giving a hug) and I pet her and then she goes and lays down again. I don't know, maybe she thinks she's a queen or something?
What? I bet you your bippy and will raise you on it that Gus loves animals easily as much as you do.
As someone rather famous here for killing threads re not liking someone's humor, I've generally - if not perfect at it yet - learned to see the layers behind people's posts. You are all wet on this one.
Besides that, Eva's Cellar is not a chamber for discordant challenges.

Prolly just me but I don't read this as joking.
presentation is everything says the dys who has the worst presentation on a2k.
Hey, Momma, that's alright. Gus has a great sense of humor, and I'm sure you're aware of that too.
Take care, and come back soon.

Aw gee, and I love you both.
And Dys.
Shucks.
And that Eva is pretty damned cute too.
<yawwwwwwn>
Oh! I missed a party!!! I hate that!
I've been off at a leadership retreat. Really. Met a lot of interesting people, ate some incredible food and stayed up talking 'til all hours. I've smiled so much during the last 48 hours that my face hurts. But I'm not going to stop now...I'm so pleased that you're all here!
Osso, thank you for reminding everyone that this is not the place for arguments or unpleasantness. I want everyone to come to the Wine Cellar for a respite from all that. If anyone gets cranky or feels the need to pout, I will give them a free token for the shuttle outside the back door. It will take them directly to the "What Made You Grimace and Grit Your Teeth Today" thread, compliments of Eva's.
Now.
I've invited one of our old friends here tonight. He used to appear at Lola's Salon quite regularly, and I've missed seeing him. I believe you all know Leonard...
Please sing us a song, Mr. Cohen.
Does anyone have a request?
Hi Miss Eva! Glad you are back. Sounds like you had a great time.
Hello Mr. Cohen. Can you do You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You?
Er, I don't it's that Mr. Cohen.
How about 'Bird on a Wire'?
BIRD ON THE WIRE
Like a bird on the wire,
like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Like a worm on a hook,
like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee.
If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.
Like a baby, stillborn,
like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me.
But I swear by this song
and by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee.
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
he said to me, "You must not ask for so much."
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
she cried to me, "Hey, why not ask for more?"
Oh like a bird on the wire,
like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.

Pass the chips.
Joe
Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.
Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.
