Anyone want some hot chocolate? Do I have to drink all of this by myself?

Well, since you offer us the drinks in cheapest cafetria glasses, you drink yours - saw it! - like the haute volet!

Would you prefer I bring out the antique bone china for you, dear Walter? I'd be happy to. Really, I trust you not to break it.

Whatever my guests prefer.

(I have a shot glass somewhere around here for Dys.)

One supersupersupersize Chocolate, coming up!

You wanna straw for that, Tico, or do we get to watch you bathe in it?

Yes, a straw please.

Unless you wouldn't mind helping Manuel tip it back for me ....

I'm afraid I'd hurt my back lifting that, Tico.

Here you go. A sterling silver straw, just for you. I found these and thought they were perfect for us. We do like a little monkey business around here, don't we.

Knock yourself out!

Sniff, sniff, is that chocolate I smell coming from Eva's Cellar? My endophins are speeding up and giving me this wonderful, the world's alright and everybody is kind sort of feeling. If the scent of chocolate can have that effect, then I'm ready to try the real thing.

Slurp! Ahhhhh....

You're "ready to try the real thing"...? Don't tell me you're one of those fakey organic types who only eats carob (yuk)!

Sophie, get this woman a pot of hot chocolate and a plate full of marshmallows. On the double!

Well friends, it's almost Christmastime here at Eva's, so come on in and have a drink on the house.

We'll be closing for a few days to spend the holiday with our families. Jacques' flight to Montreal leaves this evening, and he is looking forward to spending some time with his ex-wife and grown children. Sophie will be visiting her cousins in New Orleans. She's going to stay through New Year's to help them get their restaurant back on its feet. The business hasn't quite recovered from Katrina yet, but if anyone can get it going, Sophie can. She's a wonder, that lady.

As for me, I'll be leaving in the morning for a few days visiting relatives here and there. I'll be back on Tuesday if travel plans go as expected.

But for now, let's enjoy the warmth of the fire and a nice glass of brandy (or whatever your pleasure!), and we'll have a quiet little celebration here all our own. I have come to regard many of you as very nearly family, so it seems fitting to share a bit of the holiday with all of you here.

I hope all of you have a delightful Christmas filled with hope and love. Please join me as I toast the season...

It's almost time for our 1st Anniversary Party here at Eva's. It's hard to believe, but I opened the Wine Cellar almost a year ago...on January 29.

We've had a little excitement around here, but by and large this place has been everything I hoped. A nice, cozy, peaceful place where friends can gather after a hard day toiling on the Politics and Religion threads. No debating allowed here...just a warm fire and a soft shoulder.

Jacques...would you bring me a nice glass of champagne? I'm feeling a little mellow tonight.

Would anyone care to join me? Jacques has just opened a bottle and I can't drink it all myself. I believe we have a little fruit and cheese, too.

Well, there you are, Momma! Glad you came!

I think you'll find the peace you're looking for here.

Unless Gus stops by, that is. He and Shewolf like to cause a bit of trouble here sometimes, but we just throw them out.

There's a nice cushy sofa by the fireplace, lots of corners with tables and, of course, seats at the bar. Jacques (over there behind the bar) is our sommelier. Sophie runs the kitchen. (She used to have her own bistro.) Both are quite accomplished and anxious to please. Whatever you'd like to eat or drink, just ask. They'll bring it to you in a wink. But please, don't ask for potato chips. We can do much better than that here.

Jacques? <calling him over> I'd like you to meet Momma Angel. I think she's going to be a regular here. Why don't you give her the grand tour. Yes, all three rooms.

Eva, you will be happy to know that a light snowfall has just started in Albuquerque after two months of drought. Hope you get some in Oaklahoma to help with the drought that is causing the terrible fires in your state.
