Piff, Yea, I can move it to make it comfortable. I also can lose 50 pounds
Soz, that sounds like a great start. All it takes is on inspiration and you're off and running. Post some pictures if you can.
did you see those new avatars I posted for you ? LOL
yes I did. you are a scamp, you know.
I'll bet you all thought this kitchen was done, didn't you? Well it's inching closer. I finally got the panel for the dishwasher. It looks mahvelous. Still no backsplash. I finally settled on the porcelain tile that looks like stone. Just waiting for the installation.
I haven't found window treatments that I like yet. I'm leaning toward woven wood shades. Still have art to hang but I want to collect some more things and hang them all at once.
Soz, How's your kitchen project going?
Swimpy - I love that booth! That's really cool.
My kitchen project?
Oh, my kitchen project!
Ahem. Not going anywhere in particular. The poster is a great improvement, but in my first round of looking I just couldn't find fabric I liked for the valances, and it stalled there. I also really want to do something with the ~2 feet of space between the tops of the cabinets and the ceiling. Previous owners had a big collection of floral ceramic jugs. Eh. I have a collection of 7 vases + bowls in varieties of blue -- many of which I got in Pasadena, some of them real Arts + Crafts, not just the style but from that era -- that I like a lot, but the best ones are small and get swallowed up up there. Not really enough light for house plants.
Eh, I'll figure it out. A zillion things that are higher priority, though -- I was hoping poster + new valances would be a quick fix, but only half-quick. (Did I tell you my friend's reaction when he saw his poster in the place of honor? I hadn't told him in advance, he was really touched. It's a great poster though.)
I'd love to see the poster. Can you take a picture?
<Thanks for the compliment, k. We are really enjoying that space>
Swimpy, I believe the Hoover Dam was constructed in less time than it has taken you to remodel your kitchen.
Just an observation.
So very sad, but true. But, as they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Finally...the backsplash tiles are in. They'll be installed on Thursday.
Here are the final pictures. As final as they are going to be. I need to hang the pictures and I don't have window treatments yet. May not put anything on the windows since privacy is not an issue.

Views of the "finished" room in the next post.
Purty purty purty. The colors are just gorgeous.
Here's my kitchen with poster -- the checkerboards have got to go.
WOW!!!!!!!!!
The nook looks fantastic. EVERYTHING does, though. Man o man, gorgeous.
Soz, theat kitchen has so much potential! Some rich fabric on the windows would look great. Have you thought about painting the cabinets or the walls?
Oh, most definitely. I think the cabinets will be painted soon, no matter what, as they're starting to look a little grungy. ("Soon", however, means "within the next couple of years.")
The richly colored fabric on the windows (as yet unlocated) is the first thing I'll be doing. Then will think about cabinet/ wall colors.
What's tricky is that it's a small room and tends to be pretty dark except in late afternoon -- so I want to keep the colors light.
I just noticed that we have the same mixer.
Ha, so we do!
Mine has a strip of red around it though, looks like yours is silver.
Mine's not on display, but we have the same blender, too. :-)
Toaster's different tho!
