I would crush the competition.
Not giving away secrets, but I know how to spell words like "me" and "dog."
Maybe I oughta take a Slappy tutorial...
I so did not kick his butt.
Dunno when but I'm so up for a game of Scrabble.
Good soz...Kicky set up the message board. you might need a little tutorial to get around in the site...i know I did
We're in the middle od a blizzard here as well, but it's not as bad as what you guys are getting, from what I hear.
Hey Montana,
I have about 1000 relatives in Fredericton. Are you anywhere near there?
panzade wrote:Cinn, I was thinking the same, good eye! They're not big on feeders either. I'd guess that originally it was just the Cardinal, which is a common bird feeder visitor.
Doves come to my feeders. Red-bellied woodpeckers too. I'll try to post a list of my bird visitors tomorrow over in Wilderness, Wildlife & Ecology.
Doves fly up to your feeders, Cin? I've never seen that. Every dove I ever saw was a ground feeder. This was as true in Hawaii as in New Hampshire. Where do you live? May be a new subspecies of dove.
The doves (usually one or two at a time) fly up into the tree, sit on a branch for a while, then fly to the tray-style feeder, sometimes perching on the edge but more often sitting inside. They seem to enjoy the different vantage point, contentedly gazing off into the distance. They also feed on the ground.
I'm in the Midwest.
I see mourning doves on telephone wires all the time -- did in Minnesota, did in Wisconsin, did in Illinois, and do in Ohio.
(That's not where they feed of course, which may be your specific point, but see 'em that high or higher often.)

yes and no. Fredericton is about a 2 hour drive from here. This storm just isn't letting up and I'm very surprised that we still have power.
Soz, I met a girl from OH a short while ago(lives in Boston) who called and axed me out...then never called me back.
Can you tell her she sucks? You must know her, being from the same state and all.
The moonlight on the snow is beautiful.

Yes! It's incredibly bright, and eerily blue
Where I live, there is no light pollution from cities, only natural light (or darkness on moonless nights), and this is VERY impressive
I shoveled my driveway 3 times on Saturday and once more on Sunday. I hate snow. I think we got close to 12 inches where I live. **sigh** f&$^#%*% snow....
Kristie - 4 times for 12 inches? Why on earth did you do that?
Did y'all notice that, on top of everything else, the moon is full?
I am now preparing to go outdoors for the first time since Friday night. Longjohns and thermals already in place. Searching for extra pair of heavy woolen socks, muckalacks standing by, fleece-lined parka at the ready. Wish me luck. If you should never hear from me again...well, it's been great, kids.
I can't see my car.
I dread shovelling later. And I'm hungover and supposed to go out with some chick later. This sucks, drinking until 5am will do that to you.
