In this sentence, what would be right?
- I____ show my business’ project tomorrow afternoon.
a) 'm having to
b) have to
And, 'show' is correct or it's better 'present'?
Thanks!
Both are "right" but they mean different things.
I'm having to do something means I have to do something that I am unwilling or unhappy to do.
I have to do something means simply that.
@centrox,
thank you so much!
And, what is better? 'show' or 'present' -> my business' project?
Present is more formal and usual in a business or educational setting.
To clarify, we use "having to do" something when we are unhappy about the situation or if it is less than ideal or if a change has been forced upon us.
I am having to present the accounts summary on Tuesday because Mary is sick.
I was going to make my presentation on Thursday but I am having to do it on Tuesday instead.
