Members of A2K forums express interesting opinions on different aspects of everyday life, politics, science, health, etc. And I wonder, which fields are the people here proficient in? Some members are retired, but they used to work some years ago, I guess.
I am a logistics clerk in the company rendering storage and transportation services to its clients.
Uh, steissd! I want to partake in your poll, but my line of work isn't listed... could you put in other as an option at least?
Being a banker, I think Business Administration came closest to mine !!
I have added the "Other" category; Bigdice is right, such option should be entered from the beginning.
I wanted to be a lawyer when I was akid, now I have decent job... I'm working as awaiter, and ahve been a barman, too. It's amazing what you can learn, just talking to your regulars!
Absolutely right, talking to clients may enrich knowledge; from this point of view, occupation of the taxi driver, IMHO, is preferrable.
Metrologist/Engineer/Programmer.
I program inspection machinery. My current project has me going to Tata, Hungary to set up a system to inspect parts for laser printer cartridges.
At least... that's what I'm paid to do. It's not who I am...
Filling out the form: Race? Human. Religion? Paiute. Occupation? Criminal anarchy. Hobbies? Survival with honor.
I put down tech as that's what I've done since, um, 1997 (earlier if you count that I was my dep't's Excel guru 1995 - 1996, trained people on mainframe billing systems 1987 - 1990, etc.). My degree is in law, though - totally unrelated to what I do now.
Retired Director of Rehabilitation Programs for the chronically mentally ill.
I am an Air Force retiree. Your intent was probably to have me list "army"; however most non army military people (air force, navy, marine, coast guard) would be loath to list "army"- nothing personal against the army, simply individual service pride.
Hmm, I always considered that Air Force was just a part of the Armed Forces...
Car sales...starting to look at other career options in sales.

I voted for teaching, but I'm a nanny - close enough.
Well, it is also teaching, only the students can be hardly seen without an electronic scanning microscope
I know, my irony was directed not toward you, but toward your students. I know that the kids get pre-school training in the kindergartens. Some of them even come to the elementary school being partially literate, and they are being taught basics of reading in the nursery schools.
Business Administration/ Accounting/ Treasury / Credit
I started off to be a professional football player / mountain climber
Got educated as a teacher - oops (liked business classes best)
Have minors in Socialwork, Psychology, and Sociology.
Was an EMT and volunteer fireman.
Fraud Detective for largest Creditcard Processor - miss that job.
Shhh don't tell anyone - like flying under the radar.
