Pale grey or off white. You have to remember that colour judgement is a subjective thing, and a digital photograph possibly subjected to processing, reproduced on a monitor, may not appear the same as the original subject seen by the reporter. Colours can appear more or less vivid and shades can alter.

Actually, they are khaki cargo pants.

khaki is a particular color and fabric; cargo is the style.

Khaki is a colour and also the name of a style of pants which are also called 'cargo' pants.

When I was a kid, my uncle had what my father (ex-British Army, where the term originated) called a "khaki van". The official name for the paint was "Desert Sand".
