What would you do if the emoticons came to life?

I was sitting in my chair last night, smoking a little opium, and reading some of the latest offerings on A2K. I've been noticing a lot more emoticon usage lately. People are too lazy to express their thoughts with words so they resort to the relative ease of emoticon usage.

Instead of saying, "Oh, that's so funny, Pam! I find the entire incident to be quite shocking", they do this...

Or rather than saying, "You know, Bipolarbear, I find that last remark of yours to be quite discomforting and, frankly, I feel a little embarrassed by your lewd suggestion", they use this....

So, I'm watching all those crazy emoticons gracing the pages of A2K and I suddenly wondered about the possibility of the emoticons coming to life and trying to conquer the world.

I envisioned panic in the streets as the round yellow creatures terrorized the populace with their never-ending range of facial expressions. Soon the humans would be forced to live underground and the emoticon would reign supreme.

These are dangerous times we live in, people, and I am afraid the cavalier usage of emoticons might just open the gates of hell.

All I'm asking is for you to go easy on your emoticon usage.

I don't trust the little yellow bastards.
