So, then you are basically just being disruptive then? Like the ADD kid in history class who couldn't sit still for 10 minutes?

If you have nothing to say about the topic, please feel free to say nothing.

This sort of puerile sneer is in line with your entire political outlook, McG, and the most important of the several reasons i would advance to someone as reason not to engage in "debate" with you. I had something to contribute, and i contributed it--a warning that you were attempting to bait people, to get a rise out of them.

How is my posting an article by Donald Rumsfeld defending himself considering baiting? If you'd like, I am sure that we could examine your first post in this thread as nothing more than adolescent baiting in it's finest form.

What other purpose does it serve? If you do not like what I post, please ignore it, but allow those that do wish to discuss the issues of the day to do so without being infected by your distatseful baiting.

I've infected no one with anything, and have done nothing to prevent anyone from engaging in a discussion of the content of your article. I have simply pointed out that you have posted it to get a rise out of people. That you have been at pains to link two threads condemnatory of Rummy is evidence that someone has gotten your goat--now you want to do the same to others. My original post was a warning to Bear not to encourage you. I am please to see that even after 20 some posts, no one has commented on the content of your original post.

The problem, I suspect, is that even conservatives are tired of Rumsfeld. He has few defenders left, both in the actual and virtual universes...

Therefore; there is nothing to debate.

His whole statement is simple attempt to deflect attention from his callous statement.

I note that he does not even address what he said; he simply quotes a meanless statistic.

I believe that is due in large part by the normal disruption from the usual suspects. Liberals here respect you Setanta because sometimes you have remarkable insight. Other times you behave like a child crying for attention. Pity.

Waste your pity on someone else, McG, along with your "left-handed" insults . . . you have nothing to offer in reproducing Rummy's apologia, and you accomplish nothing in your futile attempt to make me responsible for the intellectual paucity of your offering here.

Getting back to Rumsfeld: Here's my cut 'n' paste contribution, courtesy of David Horsey in today's Seattle Post-Intelligencer:

Well, it does seem that Rummy answers questions without bowing to political correctness or public opinion. So right or wrong, I do like the fact that he is not afraid to speak his mind.
