Well, let's see: I was for the war in Iraq from the beginning; I'm in favor of killing all terrorists in the world, wherever they be; I don't care what gays do in the privacy of their own homes; I'm against big government spending ... okay, I'm against big government; I'm not scared of corporations, be they big or small, nor do I think they are evil; I like capitalism; I would personally like to make a lot of money - and I don't view that as evil (remember, it's the LOVE of money that's the root of all evil); I don't think G.W. Bush is Hitler reincarnate; and I like folk music.

So .... I guess I should come out of the closet and admit I'm a flaming pinkie liberal. I mean ...I do like folk music.

Nope, that would ruin the sarcastic point I'm making.

How about a...

"I'm neither conservative nor liberal, but rather a little bit of both" with some, "both sides are so F**ed up I just wish government would just stay the hell out of my life," thrown in for flavor followed by some "don't we all really just want what is best for the country and instead of arguing about what we disagree about and deciding on labels to call each other we should be talking about what we can agree on and do something productive"

...option.

Say AMEN somebody.

So I guess that a right leaning moderate that is fed up with both sides wouldn't have a place here?

No, no. You've got the wrong idea.

Just call yourself "conservative." You'll feel better.

The only moderate I am aware of on this forum is Roger but then he is also the only republican I am aware of on this forum. I like Roger.(sometimes I even agree with him)

Ok...so the moderate label doesn't fit. Lets just say conservative, and like Roger, a republican...guess that makes 2 now

Well, I have been defined already and I have no objections to the label just the implied insult of being called one as though it is something "anti american."

So, I notice that on this board one has to be either a Conservative or a Liberal. There is nothing else. Since I know what it means to be a Conservative in the current political climate, I have to acknowledge that I must be a Liberal!

Who else wants to come out of the closet with me? Have your say. Confess your liberal leanings.

Oh, and somebody with experience in these things, could you please tell me how to be one? ...

How to be a liberal?

Well, you could stand on the street corner until the next time you see some little kid walking by with a candy bar, snatch the candy bar from the kid and sell it. That would be the UN/Kofi Annan version of liberalism.

Or you could start raping and molesting women and then have private investigators follow the women around to intimidate them. That would be the Clinton version...

It well recalls the triumphs past
It gives the hope of peace at last
The banner bright, the symbol plain
Of human right and human gain

Then raise the scarlet standard high!
Within its shade we'll live or die
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer
We'll keep the red flag flying here!

I'll admit to being a flaming, east coast, "dirty red bastard", liberal if pushed.

By the way you forgot "decadent, effete, university liberal", them's thu wust kind.

Why is it so necessary that we attach labels to ourselves when the viewpoints may not be mutually exclusive? I consider myself to be liberal when it comes to individual rights, but a rather extreme fiscal conservative. I further believe that government should stay the hell out of my life at every conceivable opportunity, and that our elected officials are supposed to serve the public, not the other way around. I have occasionally described myself as a "right-wing liberal", but that wasn't one of the available options. Since I got elected as an Independent, I guess I'll have to just keep quiet and not classify myself in your poll. Sorry!

By the way, I have never been convinced that George Bush is the answer to every problem the country has, but John Kerry scared the living hell out of all of us who live in counties that are predominately public land. That may explain why all those counties are bright red on the election maps.

Well, cowdoc, in the current political climate I'm afraid you are a liberal. Your lips are somewhere other than on the rear end of our president so you must be a liberal. I'm afraid you are just going to have to accept the truth. It takes some getting used to, but I'm sure that in time you will wear it with pride like the rest of us.
