It's all you, hype. I'm too old and busted to be in here just chattin' wich y'all.
But I do wish all y'all wouldn't be concerned about thinking you're giving up arguments to the competition. This thread has been great for research and you all should keep adding to it.
But you're going to win or lose on the faceoff. So practice and perfect your technique. Because
you are the Texas school students who will be affected by the funding question, argue a neg or an aff
with conviction. That's how you score points. Enthusiasm, intensity -- whatever works for you. If you're bored or tired or uninterested, it'll be obvious, and you'll lose. Go back and look at blazeg's post about the kid who just went through the motions. Why would anyone get up early on a Saturday and show up like that? Just stay in bed next time, I say.
Feel it. And the judge will feel you. Having some good words to say is only half the battle.
(And if any of you would happen to know how one becomes a judge in the Houston area, please let me know.)
