Emu oil? What is this? I thought that animals had fat and not oil, the latter is being yielded from plants...

Fat is a solid substance, oil is liquid (at the room temperature).

Hmm, never seen olive oil getting solid, and this stuff is very popular in the area I live in. This may happen either due to very low temperature (below 15°C or 59°F) that may cause partial crystallization of the oil, or to oxydation of oil that yields solid products.

There is a wildlife safari park about 200 miles from here where you drive through. The animals wander about freely, although some of them are confined within a certain area - i.e. bears, lions. The emus wander around and they're so funny! One time one of them walked right up to the car, stuck his head in the window and made a sound like a very loud burp. My kids were teenagers then, so they thought it was hilarious. And, of course, they started burping to encourage the emu to continue making his noises.

They do have emu on the menu here in some places, but I've never tried it. I also used emu oil for a while. Someone said it would help my aching back, but it didn't seem to work.

Is this the emu thread, by the way? Laughing

I really can't think of much to put in my profile. Maybe I'll write about my "emu experiences". Laughing

I think they farm emus in the US!

If you can eat kangaroo, as well as emu, you've eaten the Australian coat of arms. Don't think I've ever eaten emu - although, I did eat at Edna's Table, in Sydney, where they specialise in wild food, and ate so many things, all so good, and remembered through some sort of alcoholic haze.

I've actually put a little something in my profile to celebrate the first emu thread - and it's not even in the Australia forum Confused

Well I've never eaten emu but I used to know a taxidermist who had one stuffed.

I still haven't decided to do my profile. I'm always on Able2know at lunch at work and it just isn't a priority. Someday, when there's more time and no more excuses to procrastinate, I will.

I like profiles, honest or fanciful. Emus...I think they raise them in Texas, and have been looking for a sales gimic. Gimic, how do you spell gimic?

Wish more people would let go and do honest profiles. Oh well.
