I also greately enjoyed L'education sentimentale, and can never remember the author's name. Now there is a protagonist who would be fit to place under the microscope of this thread.
Set - let's stay with Gustave Flaubert for L'education sentimentale!
How very embarrassing for me. Although i expect no sympathy.
In a way, you have acquired it from me, even not expected...
Why? For having waded through it? I was actually fascinated, because i usually read literature as an exercise in relating period literature to history, and i enjoyed it on its own merits. I should have been a child of the 19th century. I finished it in about three days--would have done better, but i was obliged to actually show up at work in order to get a paycheck.

Freud strikes again.
I only speak English, so I have to depend on Google. Very cute.

And making that a way of life...

Perhaps you may wish to peruse 'Trois contes' It adds to the imagination.
Mathos:-
I have a lovely copy of that.Quite rare.I have read it too. Can't hold a flickering smokey stick to Salammbo.
I'll have to buy this book. It's available on line for free, but the paper and ink it would take to print it out is more expensive than buying the book in paper back.
Lola:-
What does it mean when a thread is locked.
You could always read the book on that link you so obligingly provided.
spendius,
Are you thinking about the same locked thread that I am thinking about?
wande:-
Probably.The Church /State thing.
Lola will know.
It must have got too heated up I suppose.
How ya doin'?
spendius,
I am okay, how are you?
The heatedness on the church/state forum involves two specific people. I probably should not say anything until it is resolved.
wande:-
Yes-that's usually the best procedure. We do that in the pub when they kick off with the head butts and stuff.Which isn't often.Unfortunately.
yes, the church/state thread is closed. Bother! I was in the midst of constructing a reply to Foxfyre when it happened. After all my effort, then I couldn't post it. I posted it instead here:

But please folks.......let's not get my thread closed as well. Wande, good to see you here. I'll look for you there too.
I'll be travelling tomorrow. I've got family to visit and my schedule is very tight. I'll have my lap top, so I'll check in. But I won't have much time. I'll most likely be back on Monday.
Lola:-
Have you not noticed?
My evening posts.
Yes.I have done it.My library now sports a kit.
You will try to make it worthwhile won't you?
