1) Gautam said in the early pages of this thread that he knows the place and likes it. I tend to trust the judgement of people we know over anonymous restaurant reviews. 2) I don't want to spend the rest of two weeks deciding and re-deciding.

Therefore, unless somebody proposes an alternative he can convince us is better, I'm biased against reconsidering.

I was in Levant night before last - there were 10 of us and we had an absolute gala time. The food was amazing, the service was superb and the cocktails were to die for.

The belly dancer was exquisite, and did some amazing breast movements (while holding rest of her body absolutely still) and invited some of us to dance with her.

It is almost sure now that I wont be able to attend this meeting, as I am scheduled to fly out over the weekend. The loss is all mine, but when work calls, I have to respond - I am still new, and it is important for me that I should be in the right place at the right time.

I am really really sorry - but if anything changes, I will be there !!

I'm not sure if we aren't a more disparate party than yours, Prince. I know there are some reservations about spending such a lot, and the extra charge for no-shows compromises our flexibility. Personally, I dislike places where the smoke interferes with the food, but I can tolerate it if the overwhelming vote is positive. Are we a belly-dancing crowd? I enjoyed seeing it in Turkey - but this sounds to me a bit like a wealthy lads' night out.

My son is a hotelier in London and would be able to suggest somewhere a little less 'entertaining'. The restaurant in his hotel is superb, but expensive too - however probably doesn't have the 2-hour turn around and the swingeing extra charges.

We could also get there by boat down the Thames which is a fun and attractive way to travel!

If yr son works in this hotel, then he is just next door from me Smile (Can I have his phone number Twisted Evil)

Though I object to being called a "wealthy boy"... I am not a boy anymore Laughing

Any time you go to the 4 Seasons just ask for the Banquets Service Manager... he probably arranges your firm's parties.

Okay by me, if his princeship says it's good, from his recent experience, I'm game.

I am a belly-dancing agnostic: I don't mind it, and I neither do I mind its absence. I don't mind smoke in moderate quantities either, but it would be nice if I could still see the person at the opposite side of the table. If the Quadrato, the restaurant your son suggested, does not indeed have a 2-hour turnover, I would consider that a definite plus, since the whole point of the excercise is to spend time together. So much for my hanging-out preferences.

As to my decision-making preferences, I have tried at work at one time to decide anarchistically where to go to lunch with eight co-workers. The experience has greatly diminished my ideological fondness for anarchy. To avoid a repetition of that experience, I hereby grant you, Clary, the dictatorial power to decide where I will be spending Saturday night. Whichever place you end up choosing, for whichever time you reserve it, that's where and when I will go.

Is that a quote of something classic? I thought I was paraphrasing Brecht's Dreigroschenoper, but your quote sounds a few centuries older.

What sort of approximate price for 3 courses + drinks are we talking for these restaurants? I'm so confused now, I have no idea what's going on over the weekend. I've heard of meetings at 2pm on Saturday, also Saturday evening, and also meeting on Sunday as well. Are there to be many meetings, or have I got the wrong end of the stick (which is not unusual)?

Cheers.

Not exactly a quotation, but it was suggested by a passage from the Book of Ruth in the bible, the King James Version, (1611).

Let's go to Quadrato, then. I may even be able to arrange, er, special rates. If you follow my link on the last page, Duke, or Thomas's, the prices will be there.

Thanks, Clary. Sounds good to me. Is this for the meal/meet on Saturday evening?

Yes, it seems we're meeting at 2 pm on Saturday at the Penderel Oak, then moving on to Quadrato (maybe with a breather in between - maybe not!) then probably meeing again on Sunday, unless we are all hoarse and hungover!

So all is changed now?

As kitchenpete noted earlier, we had declared May 1 as the official meeting date, 12:30 , traditional roast at the Penderel Oak.

I don't really mind, but I would like to meet all ....

Since Steve and I'm coming from outsite London, a time idea for the Quadrato would be nice (and we'll have to be at about 11:30 pm at Liverpoll Street Station to catch the last train).
