One place I HAVE found for you is the Ta Fra Ben Restaurant.
I've been trying to remember the name of the place all day, and it has suddenly come to me.
This was our best meal on Malta (they mainly do seafood) and, unless they have changed the outside, you can sit at a fred flintstone style granite table and watch the sun go down, whilst eating some amazing food (I recommend the seafood platter).

It is in the St Pauls bay area.

I am quite jealous.....its about time we went back there again.

Who will be next to move to Albuquerque? Any volunteers? Soon there will be enough A2Kers in ABQ to start a riot.

Yes please, I liked it very much and have always wanted to see the balloons in action!! How much would a 3-bed house with pool cost?

Clary, I paid $135,000 for my home 2-1/2 years ago. Great house (1800 SF) and good neighborhood---but no pool. My house would have cost 1/2 million in the San Francisco Bay Area where I lived before moving to ABQ.

BBB, You're now looking at closer to one million for that home. The prices here have continued to escalate, and some parts of Sunnyvale increase over 20 percent/year. ;(

C.I., my son just sold his home in Union City for $605,000. He bought it 8 years ago for $213,000.

He bought a home in Florida for $330,000 that would cost way over one million in the Bay Area. Nearly 3,000 sf on 1/3 acre with a covered pool in a great neighborhood. Georgeous and in move-in condition.

A lot of people are cashing in their homes and moving to other states where the cost of housing is not so high.

BBB, I was ready to move after I retired in 1998, but my wife loves it here. Since she was flexible when we had to move because of my job, I'm being flexible now. Since we're not scratching for money, it's not a hardship. If we were struggling financially, I guess I would not be as flexible. Wink

I just looked at the results of the poll and noticed that something between 10 and 15 people can be expected to attend. That's quite a lot. Do you guys think we need a reservation? Has someone already made one?

Well, that was the number to expected from the beginning

I suppose, Pete and the prince are going to do the reservations .... as before and as they they said months ago.

I have suggested Levant (www.levant.co.uk) more than happy to make reservations - but suggest that Pete does it, as my attendence is in doubt.

Walter, Prince and Francis --

I am gathering from an earlier post of CI's that the meeting time and place were already agreed upon when I entered the thread.

REPEAT: We are meeting at Penderel's Oak from 12:30PM on May 1. Dys, Diane, and I will be in London from April 29 (I'll probably be arriving late, since I'm flying in from Malta), so we have April 30 open too, although I'm not sure what plans dys and Diane have for that day.

I just wanted to help prevent that 15 people show up at Penderel's Oak at 12:30, no reservation has been made, and each of us has to sit at a different table or something. Sorry if my question created confusion.

To recap: 1) I probably can't afford a house in Albuquerque.

2) We are meeting at 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, 30th April, at Penderel's Oak; we may also be meeting there at 12.30 on Sunday 1st May. Levant sounds good for Saturday evening, shall I make a phone reservation? For 10 - 12 - 15?

I'll be in London Saturday so Levant is ok for me.

I think I get the timing now. Please count me in for all three meetings. Thank you guys for your patience! Smile

(I'm arriving Friday late afternoon, leaving Monday around noon.)

But, G..., how can you not be there?
How can I be there in spirit, or at least by text message, if you're not there?
You're the only one whose phone number I have! :O

I expect some serious drinking to be done for me - as I'll be indisposed Sad and also absent.

Me for the Levant, definitely.
My wife, Fiona is a probable.

I will be staying at my brother's. If he and his wife are available, do you think it would be okay with the rest of you to ask them along to the evening meal? Babysitters are always a problem, but I thought I would check with you first.
(In summary, I may be 1, probably 2, and possibly 4)
