so softball and soccer are tied for A2K's favorite sport.
Never mind that half the forum couldn't round the bases without keeling over.
Signed the 12 year old up for Little League. Had to get all sorts of stuff at the sports store including ....batting gloves!
Went to a field and realized he had no aptitude for baseball...none. Now I'm cringing because I'll have to atta-boys while his teammates will be doing a slow burn. Such is life.
On the positive side...I can still hit the cover off the ball.
Hockey to watch and basketball to play. I played both but I was a lousy skater. Played basketball 'til I was 50.
men's basketball is definitely a "bondong" experience.
Panzade, baseball's a tough sport to pick up, 12 is OLD to learn the game. So he'll get better, but is going to behind the rest of the kids who have played for 6 years already.
I don't even want any kids. But if I do, they're learning how not to throw like a girl the moment they pop out. That's my priority, which is reason enough I shouldn't have kids.
Yeah, I know...but you can't just say "you suck"!.
I never did have kids...I inherited this one when he was 11. Pretty much fully formed. All I can do is try and give him an appreciation of culture and sports.
Oh, I'm not knocking you/him at all...just pointing out how tough a game it is to pick up, there's so many fundamentals. Even if you're a great natural athlete, you could suck at it without practice/experience, unlike being a running back on a football team. So he's behind.
Good stuff getting him into it though.
he's behind...so I'm gonna nudge him towards non-team games like tennis and golf where you can learn at a steady pace.
Just realized I hadn't voted on this thread yet. That's one more vote for soccer.
My favorite sports highlights I guess is a 3 minute reel of Premier League goals...man...that's some good athleticism.
