Would never consider slinging ANYTHING your way. But consider the following,

If you are trying to persuade someone to consider an alternative point of view, would starting the conversation with that person by saying "YOUR POINT OF VIEW IS STUPID" would be an effective way begin the conversation? Do you think the person you are trying to convince might become more open or closed minded when listening to your viewpoint?

Maybe...JUST MAYBE that is how some RED STATE voters reacted when reading or hearing the BLUE STATERS saying the were "stupid".

Perhaps we say it because we truly believe it.

I no longer really believe you CAN convince people of things using logic. You certainly can't fight belief with logic. So what's the point of being logical in a conversation with an overly religious person? They certainly will not be so....

I no longer think that my 'alternative point of view' is worth arguing to people who consistently don't understand logic, and don't want to change their minds.

Besides; we are talking about RELIGION, not red-vs.-blue. There are plenty of idiots in every state, we don't need party identification to come into it...

Speaking as a non-extremist Christian -- and thus a "religiously-minded" sheep: If we're right, we're going to heaven when we die. If you're right (and even if you're wrong), you're not - you're going to the flaming pits of hell.

Except for the tiny little fact that you are not guaranteed to go to heaven when you die just because you are Christian, yaknow...

I can only imagine that you meant to write either 'who is' or 'who's.' But I'm sure you can envision how hard I laughed at this when I read it.

I've heard this argument before. I call it 'hedging your bets with Jesus'.

One of my beefs with one particularly fundamental form of Christianity is that they use some pretty hardcore sales tactics. My feeling is, if it's the truth, it can stand on its own and you don't need the fear of hell to chase you into the arms of Jesus.

No, life (and death) doesn't come with a guarantee, but if you read this particular map you stand a pretty good shot at arriving at your destination. You, on the other hand, have no chance as it stands now.

But you better hope you don't make any typos in the near future, for I assure you I'll be looking for them! Twisted Evil

Actually, I have just as much of a chance as you do, as there is no proof whatsoever that one particular philosophy or religion is the correct one, and you very well could be going to hell with me, or to nowhere with me for that matter...

Though I would say that the implication that non-christians are doomed to hell is one of the things that the rest of us find unbelievably arrogant and annoying about the overly religious; not only is it particularly asinine, it doesn't even follow logically. Not that that has ever mattered re: religion.

I would expect nothing less.

Surely you can see the, well, particularly funny nature of mis-typing right then...

If you look closely at that particular map you will find that is full of infinite loops (circular logic), and you always end up back at the starting point.
