Cute stories about what kinds of Christmas gifts students give to their teachers...

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Middle school teacher ReBecca Kutcher remembers the sixth-grader who gave her a necklace for Christmas with what she thought was a cubic zirconia.

At a conference with the parents the next month, Kutcher noticed the student's mother kept staring at the necklace. When the Laing Middle School teacher thanked the parents for the gift, she found out the mother had been looking for her one-carat diamond necklace for a month.

Yes, Stradee, today is an excellent day to sit and relax - listen to good music, talk to the herd.

Danon - great dinner. I had a pork rib roast with roasted pieces of peeled potatoes in the juices (nice and brown and crispy on the outside), sauerkraut, broccoli with Hollandaise, and chunky applesauce. Good.

Carolinas-style winter storm here on the coastal plains today - 3-6" of snow, sleet, freezing rain, icing - all of it. Hope the power holds.

ehBeth - Norman Rockwell picture perfect?

Snowing here in Beantown. Yesterday was just sunny and cold, no snow. This a.m. there's a dusting on the ground, up to six inches expected by tomorrow night. This is forecast to continue all day and night. So be it. I'm Dreaming of a White Boxing Day? Hmmm. Doesn't quite have the same rhythm and meter.

Happy Birthday, Giggling Andre. Very Happy

It's kicked up another storm level here. Finally convinced the dogs that they really did want to go for a sashay. Bundled them and me up and faced the blustery winds and snow. Sure glad to be back in here with a cup of strong hot tea.

Happy Birthday, Merry Andrew! I hope that, if you want to go skydiving, you get the chance in this new year of life. If you want it, I say, go for it... I'll watch from a safe vantage point!
