I liked the 2005 movie "American Soldiers". The movie was up tempo, non-stop action. The group of soldiers could never catch a break. It was one crisis after another. This group of soldiers had a really really rough day.

Did not like:
Affleck version of Pearl Harbor

Too sad to say I 'liked it':
Hamburger Hill
Restrepo
Full Metal Jacket
Rescue Dawn

Did so like:
Tora Tora Tora
From Here to Eternity
Hamlet
Braveheart
Star Wars (1977)
Casablanca
The Dirty Dozen (!!!)
MASH
Apocalypse Now
How in hell have I forgotten The Deerhunter
The Big Red One(!!!)
Empire of the Sun
The Killing Fields
Ran (Kirosawa)
Master and Commander

Here's a pretty exhaustive list of someone else's idea of what was best.

@Lash,
Most of these wonderful films use wartime as a rich, meaningful backdrop to a character study.

I also like Gene Hackman and Danny Glover in the movie "Bat 21"
That was clever how Gene Hackman's character used his knowledge and memory of a specific golf course to secretly tell his rescuer of his location.

Same here. I knew of the special IMAX Batman movies and skipped them.

I like Sci-Fi though. I would have seen Interstellar in 70mm IMAX and advocated the same for everyone else, but since it was not an established Sci-Fi franchise I completely failed to notice it when it was on in theaters.

I keep hoping that maybe my local IMAX will one day choose to replay the 70mm version of Interstellar so I can see it in all of its high-resolution grandeur.

16 K dig cameras already have resolutions of 15360 X 8640 so, like I said, technology aint far behind in one arena and is superior in the color department

Yes, but in order to replace 70mm IMAX projectors, we will need 16K digital projectors.

We are capable of making such a thing. But no one in the movie industry has shown any interest in building/purchasing/installing/using digital projectors larger than 4K.

A large part of The Good the Bad and the Ugly revolves around the Civil War. One of my favorite westerns.

I can only remember the end of the movie. I'm not sure, but it's possible that I only saw the end of the movie. I do like the ending of "Force 10 from Navarone".
