Menstrual Period 10 days late. What are the chances of my girlfriend being pregnant ? Details below

So my girlfriend and I had sexual contact about 3 weeks ago (ie - 7–10 days before her estimated date of period) We didn't indulge in penetrative sex, but I did ejaculate on her stomach. After which it was wiped off completely and she took a bath, by covering her gential area with a towel tucked between her pair of shorts. It's been 10 more days since the expected due date of her period and both of us are extremely worried. Examination stress is around the corner too. What could be her chances of being pregnant and how can we confirm it ? We did take a pregnancy test at home, 6 days after the date of the missed period and the result was negative. Immediate help would be appreciated.

@Scaredboy123,
Well, I would say zero percent, but stranger things have happened.

If your girlfriend does end up pregnant, I'd spring for a paternity test.

@Scaredboy123,
A few things are at play here:
  • Stress can delay periods. It sucks but it's true, and that includes both exam stress and stress about a pregnancy worry. It is one of the annoying things about being female, fertile, and sexually active.
  • I cannot figure out from your explanation how sperm ended up in her vagina. Via the towel? Odds are slim but not zero.
  • Most home pregnancy tests want you to wait until you are two weeks (14 days) late. So any test results she has right now are suspect. It does not mean the test results are wrong. It just means the test was likely not performed correctly.

So! What to do?
  1. Wait until she's 14 days late.
  2. If she is, take a second pregnancy test and follow its instructions to the letter.
  3. If she still isn't getting her period and/or she gets a positive test result, it's time to make an appointment to see her primary care physician.
  4. If she turns out to be pregnant, discuss your options, including abortion.
  5. And get her some birth control, and condoms for you, and learn how to use all that stuff so that you don't get a scare like this again.

Using the ole "Pull out" method?

Ha! I have a 49 year old daughter conceived that way.

@PUNKEY,
Well, he said he never stuck it in. They talked about young people and "ear sex" on an episode of Family Guy, maybe they were doing something like that.

@PUNKEY,
Ah, I'm happy for you sir. But probably you didn't read the question carefully, we DIDN'T indulge in penetrative sex. Thank you.

@jespah,
Thank you so much for the speedy reply.

Probably the exam stress and the stress of a delayed period are interfering. Coz there's been a history of a delay of the menstrual period by a month, a couple of years ago too due to the examination stress.

Actually, she took a shower after cleaning up the ejaculation with a tissue. Though a towel was tucked down in the shorts, but probably it tickled down with stream of water. Though she had her briefs on, the shorts and the towel too. Could there still be a chance ?

We'll be taking another pregnancy test next week at home, which would make it the picture a bit more clearer. Do we need to look for other advanced tests like sonography and blood test or would the home pregnancy test suffice ?

What if the second test too displays a negative result, then what do I do ? Thank you in advance.

@Scaredboy123,
If there are two negative results and no period, she should consult with her doctor. Not because of pregnancy (highly unlikely by that point), but because skipping periods can be signs of other health issues (possibly anemia - note: I am not a doctor).

But I suspect you are both amping up the hysteria with each other. She wore freakin' shorts and panties which were blocking the towel (also, why the hell would anyone wear all that to take a shower?)?

Your sperm is not that resilient unless you're Superman.

@jespah,
Ah, Superman XD Let's hope it wasn't that resilient Razz

Okay, is there any need of any higher tests after two negative tests ?

Both of us are currently very much freaked out, and aren't able to concentrate on our studies either, it's pretty much of a tension.
Actually she didn't exactly take a bath, just cleaned up her upper body where I ejaculated and covered up the lower half. Wasn't exactly a shower, as you're thinking it of.

@Scaredboy123,
I'm sure you would not need any more testing after 2 negatives, but please read what I wrote above. If she doesn't have her period by two weeks, she might want to have her doctor check her over for anything else that could be giving her irregular periods.

And if her periods are naturally irregular, then you are under a lot more of an obligation to get some birth control and use it if you are going to be sexually active.

@jespah,
Thank you so very much. She does have some irregular period once in a blue moon, but not as much. I would try and make sure about that from now on. Much appreciated response.
