@Kingsfield,
Here's all the Mayo has to offer. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/menieres-disease/basics/definition/con-20028251 It doesn't look like much.

@Kingsfield,
Hi - my mom has this. Make sure you have a good doctor familiar with it. When she was first diagnosed it was pretty bad. She had frequent episodes where she could only just lie down and do nothing.

Diet can help a lot - avoid certain types of foods - especially sodium. I am not sure if she takes certain types of medication or not. Also finding the right hearing aid is helpful.

She is much better know - she rarely has dizziness, nausea and other symptoms that cause her to just lie down and feel miserable. Her hearing is a problem but we all learn to just repeat ourselves and try to talk towards her good ear. She is a good sport about her hearing which helps.

So working with your doctor and learning what triggers episodes will help a lot.

@Linkat,
Thanks for that, as i'm having a lot of trouble coping with it as i was quite fit and used to jog and walk and now hardly can at the moment and drs don't seem to know anything about the disease - is there a group of people that suffer with this that i could contact for help. Have had to put in notice at work (i'm nearly 66 anyway) but would love to know more. Moving to queensland to stay with my son and hopefully someone (doctor) there will help as they don't seem to know much about it. Could you get her to write to me what she has done to get a bit better to [email protected]. would appreciate any help. cheers

@Kingsfield,
We have a fair bunch of folks here who post from Australia.

You as the poster can add tags (see under the Title), which I recommend, using the words Australia and Queensland.

@Kingsfield,
Hi -

Here is a facebook group -

https://www.facebook.com/Menieres-Disease-Support-Group-159365130828527/

And a website that seems helpful (at least to me)
http://www.mindovermenieres.com/the-ultimate-list-of-menieres-disease-links-and-resources/

I will ask my mom to see if she feels comfortable reaching out to you. She is older so guarded in security so I want to respect her -

it is of interest to me very personally besides my mom - because I understand it could be heredity - so I am aware for her as well as myself.

But I do think these could be helpful and hopefully give you some peace.

I do know it was pretty bad when she first had bad episodes but has gotten better for her as she learned to manage it.
