Oops. Mistook this thread for the picture associated game thread. Still, this kind of contemporary artist rendering for the purpose of book cover publishing? It's a fascinating bit commercial art.

@coluber2001,
I went to an Explorer site with all the pix of this work and it looks like there were many versions in different colors and CGI styles. It apparently hs been knocked off quite a lot.

I suspect it's the digital file has been corrupted over time by being saved and saved time and again. After each saving to different files... the resolution and file type changing deteriorating what the image looks now. Plus, keep in mind that some computer monitors are slightly ... different in settings so... whoever initially posted this version might not notice that it has a slightly different color palette then the one he or she got the image file from.

@tsarstepan,
yeah thats probably it, I seen several of his works including those that look like Edw Hicks primitive style , like Peaceabl Kingdom (the work that defined the Quaker church in the US during the early days of the republic), and most of both their works were not that brightly bluish with very strong values . Rousseau originals at museums were often more warm toned. probably due to age. Maybe all those others qre attempts at catching what the original would look like when he painted it.

@edgarblythe,
Here is a watercolor of a tree that is just a demonstration by Marian O'Shaughnessy, but it captures the spontaneity of life.
