Edit [Moderator]: Moved from Science & Mathematics to History.
Quite often the USA has been the pivot point of history. That is to say the history of the world would have been quite different (perhaps not better/no internet?) if war had been shunned.
Had the magna Carta not succeded: Surfdom might continue to the present. Some would say we are still surfs of the rich and powerful. Had the French revolution failed: the USA Revolution likely would not have occured and we would be British subjects still. The Balkans likely would have started WW 1, but the allies would have lost with miminal support from the USA. The Kaiser would rule America, and most of the world. We might now be in the 75 year of peace (not prosperity, but peace) The successors of the Kiaser would likely have dealt with the the Arab terrorists ruthlessly, and effectively, and Russia, China, and Japan likely would not have become world powers. It seems improbable that anything like WW2 would have occurred had the USA been a minor pawn instead of a major player. The USA invited the attack on Pearl Harbor by colonizing many of the Pacific Islands, forcing Japan and China into the modern world, and suppling massive amounts of arms and other supplies to the enemies of Japan and Germany. The USA only pretended to be neutral even as early as 1939. Since 1939, we have had little choice in foreign policy, because we failed to avoid entangling foreign alliances before 1939. Please tell what you think would have occurred if USA had not been pivotal. Neil
