Dunno about that .... I think pubic hair is a bit more ... personal & private? ... or something than legs, armpits ...? Confused A sign of being a grown up woman. If others want to wax, that's fine, but I guess I feel a bit miffed that you're supposed to remove "the evidence" so's to appear like a pre-pubescent girl (as Eva said) simply to accommodate fashions in swimsuits. Call me stubborn, or whatever, but it bothers me that pubic hair is considered something that has to be removed. Why should women have to FIX what's perfectly natural? I'd like to see fashion CELEBRATE mature womanhood: Learn to love your pubic hair! Wear it with pride!Throw out those evil "feminine hygiene products"! Now wouldn't that be a turn up!Very Happy

I don't see it as being any different than any other 'adult-onset' hair, msolga.

Leg hair - grown woman
Armpit hair - grown woman
Pubic hair - grown woman

Different cultures and different generations view all of these differently.
Quote:
Swapping with colonists for straight razors ended another Cherokee practice, hair plucking. Before, many of the men had removed all but a tuft of hair from their heads by plucking, while women, who wore their hair long, had plucked all other body hair, excluding their eyebrows.
link

Some cultures think any hair removal is a sign of immorality/dirtiness/sexlessness
Quote:
many Europeans consider long underarm hair in particular to be very sexy
link ,
others think ALL body and facial hair should be removed.
Quote:
The Chinese and Japanese have a traditional abhorrence of body and facial hair

I think we're lucky that we get to choose.

We just have different views on this, that's all. I don't mind what anyone else does.

I don't like pubic hair either, but I prefer to shave. As much as I don't like pubic hair, I would rather have it then go through all that pain...it's just not worth it to me....I hope someone around here can give you the information you are looking for.

Hm.. I think I can jump in on this one! Very Happy

Just recently I had the brazilian bikini wax done for the first time. OUCH! It hurts.. and if you're not careful and tell the lady who's doing it how much exactly you want taken off, you're in big big trouble. You don't need to wax it all off, ya know. So that whole "pre-pubescent" thing is out in my opinion.
It does hurt a great deal the very first time you do it, specially if you've been shaving it for so long (like I had), because the hair is thicker. Second time didn't hurt nearly as much as the first one, and so on... Oh yeah... the tweezing is so annoying because it's like you're done, but you're not done yet. It's that same pain but the hair is being pulled one by one... ahhhrgh!
I'd say DO IT! It'll grow back anyway.. just in case you don't like it.

So how do they do it? Do they ask you to get naked from the waist down, do you somehow keep your panties on? I really don't know.

No one is tweezing CRAP on me. I don't care if they left a bush behind. It will have to wait the second time around and/or I will just shave those few hairs.

Ughh. I never knew about the tweezing. Not one person the 20+ times I've asked told me about that.

Didn't have any problems at all.. It was rather nice to have it veeery smooth "down there" for quite some time. Too bad I just broke up with my ex... He would have appreciated it like no other would... lol

Yep.. the tweezing is part of it, but optional. Shaving the stubborn hairs would probably defeat the whole point of waxing in the first place. So you've practically, ahem, spread and exposed yourself to the unknown and dealt with a great amount of pain... just tweeze 'em and get it over with. lol
Oh yeah...They will tie your underwear with a band, so only the corners are actually exposed.

Hmm... it would be interesting to know if there are any guys reading this post and what they think.... waxed, shaved or naturally hairy?? What do you guys prefer?

When you say 'hairy', are we talking just regular natural hairy or "I have Buckwheat in a leg-lock" hairy?

If it is gonna be natural, I prefer short and curly to a Don King panty surprise.

CalamityJane,
so can lasers be taken to facial hair, more specifically, to the whiskers on the neck area as well?

I absolutely hate to shave because I get so many ingrown whiskers, and it doesn't matter how I shave, whether with the grain or against it, razor blade or electric; I continue to get ingrown whiskers and the subsequent pustules.

you should always use a sharp razor and i found that exfoliating will help in grown hairs Make sure that you exfolite with the grain but

Yes InfraBule, the laser can take hair off wherever you want to.
Just make sure, the place you go to has the latest technology of
lasers. The old ones are painful and need at least 6 to 7 treatments
before you're completely hairless on the desired areas. The new
lasers work in addition to light impulse with radio frequency, thus are more effective.
