Let's ask the families of the students of Columbine if they think it is morally offensive to have students pose with guns...

I've been called a liberal several times and I wonder why people assume that. I'm not a liberal or a conservative, nor am I a republican or democrat for that matter, and I always wondered why so many people accuse me of being a liberal. I'm just a human being who has my own personal views on things, so if I tend to sway towards one party, it's not because they are liberal or conservative, it's because I agree with their views and not because I'm liberal. I've gotten use to being called a liberal, so it doesn't bother me much anymore, but it really use to tick me off.

I think it comes down to what the parties themselves stand for. The Democrats aren't socialists but they are well left of center on most things. Republicans aren't true conservatives but they are well right of center on most things. Kerry, however, is quite liberal while Bush is moderately conservative. It is only reasonable that those who support one candidate or the other likely shares that candidate's idelology.

The student in question in this thread is not from Columbine and doesn't gun down classmates. He is holding a sporting shotgun used for championship skeet shooting. Skeets, to the best of my knowledge are not and have never been alive, so its okay to gun them down. The liberal attempts to equate this with Columbine, hunters, or gang bangers is building all straw men.

(Edited to correct embarassing spelling error)

What is truly amazing is the amount of debate that this stupid story has inspired.

Why is this at all important to anyone?

A kid's shotgun in a high school yearbook photo erupts into a debate about Columbine and flag burning? Come on!

If I were the school administration, I would let the kid have his gun picture. I agree that it doesn't harm anyone and, although I understand the discomfort of some, think that everyone would agree that this picture is pretty harmless.

But what is the harm to anyone from making this kid pick another picture? Is there concern of emotional scarring here? Are there any real issues of persecution or repression on either side. The school administration has the right to decide if this picture goes into its yearbook.

Heck, with all that is going on, this hardly seems worthy of a paragraph in a local newpaper.

That it made national news and inspired so many posts here is really laughable.

Nope, not my won. Never met him and know only what has been written about him. I think if he had used his shotgun to shoot classmates, it would have been mentioned.

No death matches for me with anyone on this issue...there are too many important ones to argue about....I think it's a mountain out of a molehill...and I'm no conservative as you know......

And if Montana is pork....well nothing is sweeter, more tender, and tastes better hot from the oven.
I'll take all I can get. ((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))

Oh, that's a good one McG. Brings me way back to grade school. That's ok, as I wouldn't want you touching my bacon ;-)

But in all seriousness McG, in case you haven't noticed, I have been avoiding responding to you for quite some time now, because frankly, you piss me off! I find you to be very rude and insulting and it's just not possible to disagree with you without you belittling people and throwing around your insults. If someone doesn't agree with you, you act like the bully you are and I have no desire to put up with your abuse, so on that note I'll make a deal with you McG. You don't address me and I won't address you. I think that's a fair request.
