And ok, I'm dragged into this discussion, even though I have other things I definitely should be doing.......

Husker, I think is on to something, as Edgar pointed out.

But I think we have an additional feature. Sometimes the people who have done something wrong and are banned are people many of us have gotten along with, even valued, and we'd begun to incorporate them into our lives.....they'd become real people to us.......as far as that can go. And I think it can go pretty far, whether we've met the person in person or not. So it's bound to flame the discussion on both sides....... It's a difficult discussion for us all. That could be acknowledged.

And I must agree with Panz. I really don't like being talked down to either. And as much as I love Timber and Craven and Jes, (although, I'd say that with Jes it doesn't happen often) I'd say........sometimes you (plural) do get that tone in your writing that can inflame a discussion and make it worse. Authority is a necessary thing. And I appreciate how hard it is to take it. I love this site and want to see it prosper. But authority, like it or not, carries with it the same responsibility that the members share. If we can search out our inclination to talk down (all of us), and moderate it, the discussion would be helped enormously.

However, all that said, I do appreciate the fact that the moderators, et al, do get more than their share of this kind of challenge and maybe we can cut them a little slack. It's a lot of work they do. I sure would hate it if they stopped doing their jobs.

A little understanding on both sides would be helpful, I think.

yes, Seed, agreed.......my qualification is removed.

So paulaj, do your thing naked. It's good.

Still, if you feel you have to have an avatar to exist here on A2K, surely there's someone who can help you out.

Panzade--

Very satisfactory metaphor.

**********************************************************

One of the Deep Secrets of the Universe that I learned running a household with six boys: repetition can breed irritation.

Example: As soon as school was over, the kitchen would attract hungry young males who would chow down and then ask, one by one, "What's for dinner."

I'd answer.

Like as not the response to my answer would be, "Yuk". (Keep in mind, "Yuk" translates as "not my favorite").

One...two...three....four...five........and the sixth kid to ritualistically complain about the menu got the sharp side of my tongue.

I suspect the Moderators are subject to the same sort of compassion fatigue. Drom vanished a while ago but her memory lives on--she was a likable person. Meanwhile Timber, Craven and the other Mods have fielded query after query, speculation after speculation about Drom's whereabouts and the whys of Drom's whereabouts.

Robots might be more dispassionate at dealing with Questions Again, but the Mods are only human--and usually rather interesting humans.

*************************************************************

Since Craven now has a bed after two years of privation, we really ought to throw a linen shower.

I'll contribute flannel sheets in fake leopard skin.

lol....did I hit a nerve?

Well the 20 year old was supposed to pay 50 a week...and stopped.
He was supposed to take care of the yard. And didn't.
He wasn't allowed anybody in the house when we were gone and was constantly bringing home and banging chippies.
And he was forbidden a dog he wanted...a husky, because we have too many pets. But he brought it home anyways. That was the last straw.

You're not like that are you seed?
