@layman,
The president's daughter and her husband are part of the WH, as such the law of conflict of interest would apply to them.

Quote:
It was announced March 20 that Trump, one of her father’s closest advisors, would get a West Wing office, government-issued communications devices and a security clearance to receive classified information, though she would not have an official title.

Fox News is reportedly about to drop the country's top-rated cable news host, Bill O'Reilly, amid claims he sexually harassed female colleagues.

Yeah, so?

I heard Obama traded in his car while he was Prez. The dealer GAVE HIM a $26,500 trade-in allowance on his old one.

It booked for $26,500. CONFLICT OF INTEREST, I TELLYA!!!!!!!!

BIGTIME!!!!!!!

He should have paid the dealer $20,000 to take it.

I also heard that he bought a $.99 candy bar at a DISCOUNT for only .89!!!!!!!!

It should be illegal for any government employee to buy food at a grocery store. They're DOING BUSINESS when they do that. The possiblities for conflict of interest and influence peddling are LIMITLESS, present with every head of lettuce.

As I said the other day, Gabe Sherman is probably the best reporter covering Fox and he got this one right.
Quote:
Top host Bill O’Reilly is out at Fox News amid accusations of sexual harassment against him, the network’s parent company 21st Century Fox announced Wednesday afternoon.

“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” the company said in a statement.
TPM

Carlson is taking his place.
Edit: Thinking about that replacement, the incongruency will be his age in contrast with his audience's age. But I expect that Fox has a fair notion of who has been watching him at his normal time.

If anyone reads/hears commentary from regular Fox fans about O'Reilly's removal, please post it here.

I know. Trump just thought the word sounded big and blustery and alpha male-ish. Such a dick.

@layman,
Has anyone proven a single allegation against O'Reilly?

I heard that his settlements were for allegations of assault, but not sexual assault.

It seems that every time he had consensual sex with one of these scheming bitches, they would threaten to tell the press unless he paid them millions of dollars.

That's when he beat them. BAD.

By the way...whatever happened to the 27 bitches who came out of the woodwork during the campaign saying Trump assaulted them, I wonder?

Heh, "suing the U.S.," eh?

Quote:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say his permit expired in 2015 and was not renewed. They also note that Montes had been convicted for theft.

These arrogant illegal aliens actually think they have the right to sue the government for not letting them stay here and steal, eh?

With a guy like him, I'm inclined to advocate not deporting him. Give him 35 years hard time in Leavenworth, instead, eh?

You may recognize him from this decade-old Crossfire episode. One of the very last such episodes because of how Jon Stewart dealt with the show and its format. It is a must-see piece of political film.

@layman,
I personally think you are being obtuse, but I'll lay it out for you simple enough for you to understand. China gave Ivanka three trademarks the same day she dined with Xi at Trump's Mar-a-Lago. It smacks of quid-pro-quo. Sloppy at best, criminal at worst.

A classic exchange.

Stewart-
"You should go to one."

Lay WHAT out? Your own abject ignorance, that it? She made proper, valid applications under chinese law and they were granted as a matter of routine. I suppose the Beatles took billions in bribes when they applied for copyrights/trademark protection in China too, eh? The UK should have given them life sentences for treason.

Nice try, cheese-eater.

I also heard that she was, upon application and payment of all standard fees, GIVEN a driver's license in New York. Jeez, ya talk about straight-up CORRUPTION, eh!!!!!!!!!!!?

They even registered her to VOTE! Obvious conflict there, since she will vote for her father. She should be incarcerated.

@blatham,
Nah, I gave away my tv back in California in 2005 to the guy that helped me once in a while in the garden - but I was only watching a few things on tv by then (work in the gallery and studio, remodeling, gardening, checking the internet, cooking, and so on). I must have watched Crossfire once or twice, but don't remember it much.

Ah, Tucker Carlson, I remember the name, not the face. My youtube videos are starting to sound blurry, turning now to animated semi-garble. But I'm glad I checked your link. Jon Stewart, so smart, funny, and handsome besides that. A glimpse of him cheered me up.

@snood,
It was that appearance on Crossfire that helped me understand just how smart Stewart is. And it really helped me clarify why I was uncomfortable with the format of the show. I feel indebted to Stewart and I do to Colbert for his performance at the Correspondents' Dinner. These are two guys who make the world better rather than worse.
