I love all this talk about nukes and MOABs (clearly the new "in" arsenal item). Particularly fun at Easter because war and killing are so Christish.

Hey, if you let some of them, they'll explain to you how shock and awe is Christlike.

"China issued a stern warning Friday that a conflict over North Korea could break out “at any moment”, as Pyongyang vowed a “merciless” response to any US military action."

"A US naval strike force has been deployed near the Korean peninsula, and President Donald Trump has issued stark warnings that the threat posed by Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons programme “will be taken care of”."

Ya know, the only appeal this thread has, at all, is the unintentional humor coming from the incessant whining of the incredibly petty and partisan attacks offered up by most of the decidedly mundane hacks posting here.

But, after so much exposure, even the humor wears thin, and you become overwhelmed by just how pathetic it is, really.

@snood,
Yes. Jesus loved to bully and punish. Bragging, lying, scamming people to up his income - all Jesus stuff. And he was really keen on blowing grandmas and kids into bloody bits too.

Yes they do. You've no idea of the food scene in this country so stop making a fool of yourself sucking up to Europeans.

@blatham,
Oh what crap, but I guess it does make you and snood feel clever. What Christian believes in a shock and awe Christ?

@Finn dAbuzz,
Military talk that he can't contribute to has taken over the thread where he likes to tell people which Perlman article they should attend to.

He used the Jesus bomb as a pre-emptive strike.

@Lash,
Are you plumping for another three million innocents slaughtered by the US or is your biggest concern that some of this might contaminate YOUR food supply, Lash?

Have you been this concerned about all the deformed kids being born in SE Asia from US WMDs? The half million Iraqi kids murdered before the illegal invasion when it was only US terrorism slaughtering them.

You folks are really the lowest of the low. Those of you that relish the death and pain you inflict upon others.

Stand up and be counted.

I'm wondering if there is any significance at all to calling the naval assembly a "US naval strike force". If memory serves, such a group is generally referred to as a carrier group, or something like that.

I dunno, maybe I'm seeing something that isn't in the tea leaves at all.

I had hopes this recent iteration wouldn't be as thoroughly boring as the first one.

I won't see anything else you say.

Oh crap, did I rub the expert on everything the wrong way? Ok, you know everything, I don't, I was wrong to enjoy the food while in France, I should have known better than to eat anywhere but Olive Garden in Tuscany. Anything other than Olive Garden or Brio is total crap.

We used to have a couple great French restaurants in D.C., actually there are many excellent restaurants in D.C.. They have just about everything and every country's cuisine somewhere around the area.

But here's how I see it Mr. Cranky, you get the best beef in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas......you don't want to try crab cakes in any of those places. Maryland knows what to do with crab meat, but our Mexican food ain't up to snuff. And as far as the 'food scene' hahahahahahahahahaha, I wish I could bottle your pretention.......I just don't know where I would market essence of Finn.

So, if you are the king of the country's food scene, that and 5+ bucks will get you a crappy cup of coffee from Starbucks.

Finn, can we just forget about whose taste buds are the best. Maybe it's important to you, but it's not interesting to anyone else. Food scene, JFC

There are some here who seem to have confidence in the ability of president 45 to navigate foreign policy with hostile countries. When they look at the 59 Tomahawks and mother-of-all-bomb initiatives they seem to be saying "Yes, makes sense to me. Bomb them suckers. Twice."Confident. Even cocksure.
I've raised the concern that maybe events that are unfolding - the military flexing - is more about the erratic thrashing about of maniacs than crafty moves that represent sound thinking. To that, they seem to be saying "no, these are good moves", or even "No, these are necessary moves - we have to get them before they get us."

To all that I just add the following humble observations. Our commander in chief is a foreign policy novice who prides himself on appearing to move decisively even when the decision making process is obscure or non-existent. We are dealing in Syria with a leader who has more than once slaughtered his own people in painful and tortuous ways. We are dealing in North Korea with a leader who has had his own uncle and his own half-brother murdered, and who by all accounts is more impetuous and merciless than both his father and grandfather - men who were horrible and careless in their own right.

I say in the present circumstance - with these three men who all seem to have something to prove all brandishing weapons - fear is not a kneejerk reaction only to be expected of the timid or unschooled. It is not the only one, but it is one completely reasonable and understandable emotional response to current events.
