It was probably unreasonable to expect a sixtysomething whose life experience is all in media and Hollywood to suddenly turn into a one-man think tank...

Typical cheese-eater way to try to marginalize somebody by completely misstating their credentials, eh?

In truth, Bannon was a Naval Officer for 7 years, then obtained a B.A., in urban planning. After that, a master's degree in national security studies from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He didn't stop his education there. In 1985, he went on to earn another master's degree, with honors, in business administration from the prestigious Harvard Business School.

So, then what? Straight into media for the rest of his life? Fraid not. He got extremely valuable training and experience in the cutthroat arena of investment banking with Goldman Sachs. He rose to the position of vice president there, but moved on to form his own investment banking company at the age of 37. He sold that company, for a very nice profit, 8 years later, when he was 45. After that he was the CEO of a software development company, which Goldman Sachs invested in, for many years. In addition, he was a founding member of Briebart News, and became the CEO of that ever-growing enterprise after Briebart died in 2012.

On the side, he was executive chair and co-founder of the Government Accountability Institute, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, and broadcast a talk radio show as host.

Along the way, he also produced 18 films, sure, but this is hardly a man "whose life experience is all in media and Hollywood," eh?

He is an extremely talented and bright guy who has accomplished a multitude of successes which the author of this distorted article could never hope to aspire to.

Nice try, cheese-eaters.

@layman,
Steve Bannon says the media should keep their mouth shut. Just like Trump, he doesn't understand our Constitution and the "freedom of the press."
The media is what keeps us informed about our politicians.
Get used to it; it's here to stay.

@ossobucotemp,
The next story on that Slate rag's website, which you apparently did not care to cite, says this, eh?

Quote:
The federal agency that oversees Donald Trump’s lease for his luxury hotel in Washington decided Thursday that his serving as president doesn’t violate the terms of the agreement that bars government officials from making money off the property.

In a letter sent Thursday, a General Service Administration official informed the Trump Organization that everything is a-OK as far as the agency is concerned. “I have determined that Tenant is in full compliance with Section 37.19 and, accordingly, the Lease is valid and in full force and effect,” wrote the GSA contracting officer.

But I thought the cheese-eaters told us that he was in breach of contract and that his ownership of that building was, in itself, grounds for impeachment, eh?

Go figure.

No votes were cast fraudulently, right?

That's not the exclusive definition of "meddling" with an election.

...some Russian meddling that obviously didn't impact a single vote?

If someone spreads a false rumor about a candidate in an election and this once-favored candidate loses, I think it's reasonable to accept the spread of the false rumor as having had some impact on the vote, without any additional evidence of ballot fraud. I think the distribution of hacked communications would also qualify as a subversive and criminal action. Whether it cost the candidate a victory is immaterial.

It just wasn't important to fill the Supreme Court position a year ago. Why now? Don't even say it's not political.

@layman,
This cheese-eater worries that Bannon now has the authority to authorize extra-judicial killings, just like Obama did. He's right to worry. Any cheese-eater should.

Please explain that to me.
I served in the USAF for four years, and honorably discharged. I earned E4 in 15 months. I served on the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury for the 2003-2004 term, and was foreman on the second longest criminal trial in Santa Clara County. I served as a volunteer board member on two nonprofit organizations.
I worked in management positions for over 80% of my working career.
I have friends all around the world and across the United States. I have traveled to 80 countries, and have seen more of this world than most people.
My net worth is over $2.2 million.
Our older son graduated summa cum laude, and our younger son magna cum laude.
Where did I fail?

Do you walk on water and change into wine as well?

Problem is we heard this all before from you...MANY times. Who in the hell are you trying to impress? And why?

You seem to have a huge inferiority complex.

Next you'll be telling us about the notches on your gun and all the bodies ya got, heh?

@giujohn,
I have a positive net worth!

"In theory" it's a huge negative number, but when asked I just ignore all the loans I've never paid back. They don't count. I aint never gunna pay none of them nohow, so why take that **** into account, I ask ya?

So, as a consequence, my net worth right now is around $5. That includes a half a pack of cigarettes and the 35 cents I have in my pockets. Time to start checking doors to see if they're unlocked again tonight. I done blown last week's haul.

While in Havana, Cuba, met Oleg from Moscow, and a woman who was at Floridita bar, and I took her picture with her camera with Ernest Hemingway's statue sitting at the end of the bar.
Would love to return to Cuba for another visit. We know Hiroshi Robaina who owns one of the largest tobacco farms in Cuba. We also have friends at Nactional Hotel and some restaurants.
Their cigars are world class, and so are their prices. My buddy and I have indulged in $50 cigars.

At it again I see...
what a name dropper you are. $50 cigar Gracie? I don that care if it was rolled on the thighs of a virgin...There is no cigar worth $50 dollars...A fool and his money...

As a matter of fact, Cubans like Americans. Many of their cars are 1950s US autos. When we are there, everybody is friendly to us. Even though they are poor by world standards earning around $20 a month, most people seem happy. They have two currencies; one for locals and the other for tourists. Many things they buy are subsidized by the government.
I should add that my buddy and I have traveled all over Cuba. The reason we are able to is simply that my buddy speaks fluent Spanish. We have visited most of the big cities.
Things have improved after Raul took over the government. We were advised not to talk politics in Cuba.
Most bars have live music. We have our favorite bars in the cities we visit.

Ya sound like a closet commie...You have a problem with Trump and Putin but no problem with the Castro's???

When I served in the USAF in the late fifties, we never heard of the military using shotguns, but I never researched the subject.
In the Air Force, we were trained on using the carbine and 38s. In Morocco, we had 38s while we worked with nukes.

They've been employed as far back as WWI...Hence the term "trench gun".

I spoke by phone with Mayer this week. During the course of our conversation, which has been edited and condensed for clarity, we discussed why the Koch brothers have never fully embraced Trump, how Republicans will try to move on from the health care disaster, and the disturbing magnetism of Steve Bannon.

Isaac Chotiner: Why did the Koch brothers’ network come out against Paul Ryan’s health care bill? It doesn’t make obvious sense on its face.

Jane Mayer: It doesn’t? It makes sense to me.

OK great, tell me why.
