Moral narcissists are helping to make sure America’s COVID-19 lockdown continues in full force, shaming anyone who objects, refuses, questions, or even simply voices concerns or complaints.

I Know Best: How Moral Narcissism Is Destroying Our Republic, If It Hasn’t Already is the title of Roger Simon’s fascinating 2016 book on the subject of moral narcissism. Simon described this particular kind of narcissism as a “far more lethal form” that is destroying “our families, friendships, workplace atmosphere, and democratic republic.” That kind of lethality infecting the “cure” for a pandemic could certainly produce an outcome much worse than that of the virus itself.

Simon describes the feelings of the moral narcissist this way:

What you believe, or claim to believe or say you believe—not what you do or how you act or what the results of your actions may be—defines you as a person and makes you “good.” It is how your life will be judged by others and by yourself…

If your intentions are good, if they conform to the general received values of your friends, family, and co-workers, what a person of your class and social milieu is supposed to think, everything is fine. You are that “good” person. You are ratified. You can do anything you wish. It doesn’t matter in the slightest what the results of those ideas and beliefs are, or how society, the country, and in some cases, the world suffers from them. It doesn’t matter that they misfire completely, cause terror attacks, illness, death, riots in the inner city, or national bankruptcy. You will be applauded and approved of.

The right-wing news outlet Newsmax on Monday broadcast a lengthy statement to "clarify" false and baseless claims made on its platform about two vote-processing companies, Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems, and the 2020 election.

"Newsmax would like to clarify its news coverage and note that it has not reported as true certain claims made about these companies," John Tabacco said on the network.

Newsmax also posted the same statement on its website on Saturday. It said it had "no evidence" to back up certain election-fraud claims.

Smartmatic, a digital-security firm, has threatened to sue Newsmax, Fox News, and One America News Network over promoting false and defamatory claims that the firm engaged in or covered up voter fraud, The New York Times reported.

Clarifications that aired on Fox News and Fox Business Channel over the weekend were different from the one that aired on Newsmax. The Fox hosts Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro, and Lou Dobbs used interlocutors to correct the record on various claims instead of reading a statement.

The Times said Dominion Voting Systems had also threatened to sue the Trump campaign and Sidney Powell, a lawyer who worked for the campaign who has spread lies and disinformation about the election results and the voting companies.

President Donald Trump and his allies, including Powell and his attorney Rudy Giuliani, have aggressively promoted baseless claims that the companies were part of a global cabal bent on stealing the race.

Vice President Pence can save it all

The statement says nothing about who might or might not have “won” the contested states. Rather, by not following their own laws, as enacted by their own legislatures, they have violated Article II, Section 1. Thus they have not conducted an election, and their results are void.

If the votes of all six contested states (excluding New Mexico) are registered as zero, President Trump will have 232 votes, and Joe Biden will have 222. The 12th Amendment says,

“…the votes shall then be counted: – The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President…”

In plain language, Donald Trump will be re-elected, since he has a majority of the actual electoral votes. There will be no need to involve the House of Representatives to resolve a contingent election.

Richard Nixon chose not to contest the 1960 election because he felt that winning that way would lead to an ungovernable country. If VP Pence does this, that same argument might be made. But is the country even governable now? Blue states such as California, Oregon, Washington, New York, New Jersey, and Michigan are already operating in an openly lawless manner with their “emergency” “COVID related” restrictions. Their denial of the rights of law-abiding citizens is horrific. How much worse would things be if the VP lived up to his oath and upheld the law?

SCOOP: Trump Advisor Says VP Pence May Reject Fraudulent Biden Electors

Trump 2020 adviser Boris Epshteyn said during an interview on Monday that Vice President Mike Pence may reject those slate of electors he finds fraudulent during a joint session of Congress on January 6.

Boris was responding to a question about how President Trump can still prevail.

“So when the time comes on January 6…” the Vice President can count the “correct electors…the electors based on the most legal votes,” Epshteyn said on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast. “Let not forget that a week ago today, the Trump electors were sent to Congress…along with the Biden electors,” he continued. Epshteyn later said the Trump team is prepared to fight well past January 6 if Congress cannot certify a winner.

During the Joint Session of Congress on January 6, Vice President Mike Pence will be tasked with reading each states’ electors into the official record.

Some legal scholars have argued that where there are disputes over electors, the vice president has the legal authority to read into the record only that slate of electors which he believes is correct.


On the other hand, different legal scholars say the vice president has no such power and may only read the slate of electors transmitted to the Congress by state officials.


Which one of these positions is correct? We don’t have a definitive answer.

The question of whether Vice President Mike Pence could read the GOP electors into the record is an open question of law. The US Supreme Court has never been forced to resolve the question. But President Trump may force the issue in 2021, if Vice President Pence rejects some of Joe Biden’s electors.
