@Builder,
Quote:Hillary Clinton wanted Trump as an opponent, thinking it would clinch her second run at the top job.
And? What does that have to do with Maryanne Trump Barry's comments?
Quote:Donald wasn't "qualified" for any kind of national management role, but under US law, he had everything that it takes.
Remember though, that when those qualifications were written in 1787, voting was restricted to property-owning white males, and the president was chosen by Electors, not the popular vote, as a further defense against demagoguery. Of course the joke is that as early as 1800, Aaron Burr made it obvious that pretty much any rich, ambitious white man seeking power could run for the job.

As for the religious leanings, can you honestly say that anyone in the political sphere meets the "criteria" of being a staunch Christian?
Sure. The visible criteria for being a staunch Christian (as opposed to being a genuine believer) have always been copied by Philistines. Waving a bible, lighting X-mas trees, solemnly intoning "and may God bless America" at the end of speeches, and basically wearing one's professed faith on one's sleeve is pretty much the definition of a staunch Christian president. Look at the political sphere and you'll see a host of staunch Christians, a good number of staunch Jews, and handful of staunch Muslims, and a few quiet agnostics. It's just that Donald does this stuff in an exceptionally ham-fisted, unconvincing manner, such as his wishing Christians a "Happy Good Friday!" this year.
