Federal judge blasts William Barr for Mueller report rollout, asks if it was meant to help Trump

The judge has a right to his opinion.

I commend Barr for helping our President. Good job!

Yeah, Trump is Bush's favorite person. The establishment has bridges between parties.

There was a noticeable absence on stage Wednesday when members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force gave a press conference: Health Secretary Alexander Azar.

According to Politico, that wasn’t an accident: Vice President Mike Pence asked Azar not to attend the briefing. A spokesperson for Pence told Politico, in the publication’s words, that “officials wanted to make room on stage for Ben Carson,” the Housing secretary. A spokesperson for Azar said simply that the task force members would be “rotating through as necessary” in the group’s daily briefings.

At first, Azar was the top Trump administration official leading the White House’s task force. Then, at a press conference last week, Trump said Vice President Mike Pence would be leading the effort — reportedly to Azar’s surprise. Pence has since brought on Dr. Deborah Bixby, an AIDS expert, as another point person.
TPM

The authoritarian/totalitarian instincts of this government are readily in evidence broadly but this case - in the face of a burgeoning pandemic - is arguably the most egregious AND the most obvious.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) encouraged President Donald Trump to say things about a fatal respiratory virus that are actually based on science instead of a “hunch.”
Jesus christ. That this even needs to be said (by one of Trump's most predictable minions) is a bloody scandal.

House Dems Block Anti-BDS Bill

No antisemitism here (right). It is all in Congress.

House Democrats on Wednesday blocked the consideration of a bill that would have prohibited domestic support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Biggest non-surprise since the late pleistocene
Quote:
David Fahrenthold, Joshua Partlow, Jonathan O’Connell, and Carol Leonnig report that you are putting even more money into Donald Trump’s pocket than you knew:

Quote:
President Trump’s company charged the Secret Service $157,000 more than was previously known — billing taxpayers for rooms at his clubs at rates far higher than his company has claimed, according to a new trove of receipts and billing documents released by the Secret Service.

Many of the new receipts were obtained by the watchdog group Public Citizen, which spent three years battling the Secret Service over a public-records request from January 2017.

When added to dozens of charges already reported by The Washington Post, the new documents show that Trump’s company has charged the Secret Service more than $628,000 since he took office in 2017.

The payments show Trump has an unprecedented — and still partially hidden — business relationship with his own government. The full scope of that relationship is still unknown because the publicly available records are largely from 2017 and 2018, leaving huge gaps in the data.

It's going to be some years before we get a really good grasp of the level of graft and criminality of this guy and his circle. As soon as he's out of office, he loses most of the devices he can use to obstruct investigations and he'll be far more vulnerable. Of course, he'll use all the strategies he's used in the past to avoid accountability but unless the system is totally fucked (possible) he'll likely be in jail, I'm thinking.

@snood,
Yes it is. People with a lot of money are very much advantaged in the legal process. And if they are amoral sociopaths facing serious legal consequences, there's not much they won't get up to to protect their hide. But I'm guessing there's so much criminality being hidden that he won't escape.

I'm not surprised by the "remedy" offered by Oralloy. Banning opposition political parties is the common first step by fascists. After the passage of the Reichstag Fire Act and the Enabling Act, Hitler banned opposition parties. Oralloy would have fit right in.

You won't get an answer. I asked pages ago what he ( Trump) is going to be locked up for. I got 0 answers. There is nothing but saying it must make them feel better.

Some witless conservative fool calls for the Democratic party to be outlawed, what sort of response do you expect?

If it looks like a Nazi, and walks like a Nazi and talks like a Nazi . . .
