Likewise, there was no way Trump was going to beat Hillary. Or at least that's what the fools were thinking.

Hillary won the popular vote by a huge margin. Where she basically came up short was in three swing states basically because of the FBI report which turned out to be a bust. Before that, she was doing better than fine. The polls were starting to tighten up about then and in those swing states, Nate Silver was starting to talk about a possible Trump win. He took a lot of flack for that, but, turned out, he was right.

I don't care what you think either, rev. It just makes me laugh when you speak of "resistance", that's all.

Considering I don't think Bernie had a chance at all once they started hammering him for his socialism and his past and the somewhat questionable activities of his wife, I feel I have as much right anyone else to talk about resisting Trump and I will continue to talk about it. I think it might take a decade to get out from underneath the stomping we got and some of it we caused ourselves (Reids nuclear option...) but I think, sooner or later, the dime is going to turn. This administration is heading for disaster and is going to take the world and our country with it.

The difference between the some Bernie or busters and Hillary supporter is one glaring one and it is one which I think makes all the difference in the world. Most of us would have voted Bernie and supported him wholeheartedly had he won the primary because the country is more important than hurt/pride feelings.

But that is all water under the bridge, we are now in Trump land and I hope all of us resist him and get over ourselves and think about what is most important.

A wonderful diagnosis...But your patient died...So bury it...It's starting to stink.

@maporsche,
Good faith can't be studied. Either you chose to debate in good faith, or you don't.

I'm completely serious. This is a good faith effort to understand what I'm missing; to expand my bubble so to speak.

Don't know where you got that idea; I love the guy. But to hear people talking about him in 2020 just illustrates the current leadership vacuum in the Democratic Party.

Sorry, I just vaguely recall you saying something about him, never mind, my ability to recall is not that good.

I rarely think that far ahead, kind of go by the motto, "sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.." Agree with farmerman, he will be pretty old by then, all of that crowd will be. Hope some new young democrats start to assert themselves by then.

@hightor,
You have to admit, Trump's habit of not heeding intelligence is not helpful when conducting raids whether a person think conducting raids is a good thing or a bad thing. I personally think it was a wag the dog moment.

The country and it's government are being reclaimed from the left, and the liberal progressive democrats are angry because they can't hold on to what they have done to this country. President Trump needs to clean out all remnants of Obama & Clinton, because the ones that remain are working against him from within.

Well, apparently this raid was going to go ahead on Obama's watch but Obama called it off because it was a moonless night. The next night wasn't his term. What to make of that, I don't know.

Questions rise about Trump-ordered raid in Yemen

More details here.

It wasn't a moonless night. Operators prefer to work with no moon, makes it harder for the enemy to see and we have the advantage with night vision tech.

Quote:
The New York Times reported that Obama's national security aides had approved the plans for the risky attack and that Obama had not acted because the military wanted to launch that attack on a moonless night. The next such night would have been after his term.

In other news:

I guess Russians can just hack into our country and try to influence our elections with impunity.

Treasury eases sanctions on Russian intelligence agency

Quote:
The U.S. Treasury Department on Thursday eased sanctions on Russian intelligence agency FSB put in place by former President Barack Obama last year over accusations that Moscow launched cyber attacks to try to influence the U.S. presidential election.

The Treasury Department said in a statement it would allow U.S. companies to make limited transactions with the intelligence service that are needed to gain approval to import information technology products into Russia.

The broader significance of the sanctions exemptions was not immediately clear. The Treasury Department often issues general licenses such as the one announced on Thursday to help U.S. companies overcome unintended business consequences of sanctions.

U.S. intelligence agencies accused the FSB of involvement in hacking of Democratic organizations during the election, won by Republican Donald Trump.

The agencies and private cyber security experts concluded the FSB first broke into the Democratic National Committee's computer system in the summer of 2015 and began monitoring email and chat conversations.

@revelette1,
If it helps at all, both Obama and Trump would need to rely on the specialists to determine the optimal time for the raid. Experts will sit in a room and present pro and con until POTUS is comfortable making the call. Also, ops can be called off during implementation up to a point and the experts try to work in options should elements turn negative.

I'm grateful I don't have to make those decisions.

Oh, well, I have enough trouble just trying to mange my own house...I know less than nothing about military matters as I just proved here in a2k.

From what I read, they were tipped off by the sound of the low helicopters and drones. I guess it would have risky no matter what.
