) - and he is 1st born German/Scottish American; what does this mean? That German (Bavarian to boot) part worries me the most!

How can he possibly denigrate anyone else absolutely astounds me.

Not "German" (grumble, grumble): his paternal grandparents' nationality was Bavarian - there wasn't a German nationality before 1913.

Not the Nine 'O Clock News was a topical comedy show on the BBC in the late 70s. It's responsible for giving Rowan Atkinson his big break amongst other things. At the end of the show there was a song.

Now some topical comedy doesn't age well, but this is more relevant today than it was back then.

Typical all I can find is this. The relevant song starts at 6.44, but it's a pretty good comedy record in itself even if it is a bit dated.

Now, now Walter - if you expect me to maintain the physical borders of Germany over the millennium when they changed their (your) borders every few decade depending on this war or that skirmish or that King/Queen/Baron - well that just too much (even though I was born in Frankfurt).

Actually, since I was writing in the present tense, I should also be allowed to have a little leeway there also!

These types of arguments are also very present in my genealogical threads. Especially when discussing ethnicity 2-4,000 years ago. It is a difficult task.

Seriously: there was no Germany before 1871, and a German nationality was only created in 1913.

Kallstadt, where Trump's ancestors lived, was originally within the territory of the Electoral Palatinate, which became Bavarian in 1777, then French, in 1816 back to Bavaria (until 1945).

For what it's worth - I looked up the house in which al-Baghdadi was killed less than 24 hours after the attack on Google Earth. They had already updated the satellite photo to a current picture of a totally destroyed house.
