I don't know why you are always posting German laws, as if the existence of the law implies it's not being ignored in black markets and other hidden ways.

Have you ever heard of governments making laws against drugs and then illegal drugs still being popular? It's not terribly uncommon.
That's our constitution, not a criminal law.
Don't they differ between a constitution and criminal laws where you live?

And laws here aren't made by the government but by our parliament - that's all in our constitution (Basic Law).

I only post German laws when it is topic-related, btw.

99% of my posts since 2002 are without mentioning German laws, I think.)

Total horseshit. There is no British version of Jeremy Corbyn or any other American politician. Jeremy Corbyn comes from a completely different tradition, the Labour party goes all the way back to Kier Hardy and beyond. It's got **** all to do with American politics.

If you need to grossly simplify things by imagining foreign versions of American institutions and people you have no understanding of the complexities and nuances of international politics.

@Lash,
Another huge difference between Corbyn and Sanders is that Corbyn's supporters aren't a bunch of traitors who told people not to vote Labour when Ed Milliband was leader.

Not only is your comparison simplistic, it's also highly offensive.

@izzythepush,
Even the simplest comparison is totally wrong: Corbyn is a Labour MP, leader of the Labour party and leader of the opposition.

And the Labour Party is a centre-left political party.

Looks like you need to talk to several news outlets—everyone sees a comparison.

Two things going on, I think - one legal and one PR. First are the moves to get the returns published. But the Trump admin and its allies will do everything they can to block any such initiative. Court challenges seem a certainty. So this isn't going to happen any time soon, so far as I can tell. To a significant degree, they are toothless because of those obstructions arrayed against release.

But at the same time as they are pushing these initiatives, they have to keep the issue of the tax returns up front in the public's minds. So they have to talk, write, etc.

Yeah, I hear you saying “strategy”. But you know what the “or else” was, that was issued with the latest warning about releasing the tax returns? It was “Comply, or else face a lengthy legal battle.” Whoo - bet that get’s ‘em shaking in their boots, huh?

I don't get the Dems sometimes. They ask nicely for the tax returns, then they set a deadline for a response. Then they ask more firmly and extend the deadline. All along making grave announcements about how they will "exercise subpoena power" if they have to...
What the **** is this abject TOOTHLESSNESS taking the place of any (desperately needed) strong checks and oversight on this wretched executive?

It's actually pretty straightforward.

You don't have any right to see any of Trump's tax returns, ever. Period. Full stop.

Any questions?

If he takes the UK to war with Israel, the US will side with Israel.

You young people are so cynical. At my age, when the tunnel at the end of the light looms, we tend to indulge the more generous worldview. You're harshing Bambi's buzz.

@Lash,
That's pretty hilarious. Professional journalists are the bottom-feeders of the literary world. Giovanni Schiaparelli at the Vatican observatory, more than a hundred years ago, saw hydrological flow features, channels on Mars--you know, water courses. So that's what he reported, channels. The Italian word for channels is canali. So what did the professionals report? Canals on Mars! Yeah, them professionals, they know it all!

You crack me up.

Assange broke his bail conditions. When people do that they go to prison. That's how laws work.

That's okay. But if you extradite him to the US he will be tortured. I hope the UK will do the right thing. Habeas corpus.

I've already said he shouldn't be extradited to America. Do you bother reading what people write or just make **** up like your pal Oralloy?

@Lash,
Doesn't say much for professionals who write a lot of cretinous drivel like that.

Countries are separate from each other with their own traditions. They don't set out to have versions of American people or any other nations.

If you need to make that conversion you're pretty stupid, and incapable of seeing anything outside your own back yard.

You yourself were complaining about the state of American journalism. If that's an example of the dumbed down **** it proffers you have a point.

Have you tried reading normal journalism, for adults who don't need to take baby steps when looking at the news.

Corbyn is not a British version of Sanders and only a complete moron would claim he was.
