The problem has always been that it was put on someone else's land. It's like your next door neighbors saying to you, "We want a swimming pool, but we can't fit one on our lot so we're going to build it in your backyard. And by the way, you won't be allowed to swim in it. Get used to it."
It's not someone else's land. Israeli Jews are indigenous to the region.

Sure, a lot of us do as well. We just don't agree with the Likud's policy toward the Arab minority.
What supposed policy is that?

The only thing Israel does is defend themselves from murderers. What is brutal or inhumane about defending yourself when Palestinians go on a murder spree?

@oralloy,
Palestinians are also indigenous to the region. They are genetically indistinguishable from each other, no matter what their religion is today. And the Palestinians' ancestors have been there continuously for 3000 years or so, while most of the present day Israeli jews' ancestors intentionally moved somewhere else.

Fine. But that does not give them the right to exclude an Israeli state.

There was nothing intentional about it. The Israeli Jews were forced out against their will and have spent the past 2000 years trying to return.

Saudi Arabia has denounced US Senate resolutions to end US military aid for a Riyadh-led war in Yemen and to blame the country's crown prince for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Saudi foreign ministry described the move as "interference" based on "untrue allegations".

Thursday's US resolutions are largely symbolic and unlikely to become law.

But they sent a warning to President Donald Trump about US lawmakers' anger towards Saudi policies.

In a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency, the foreign ministry said: "The kingdom condemns the latest position of the US Senate."It said that such a position "was built on untrue allegations". Saudi Arabia, it added, rejected "any interference in its internal affairs".

"The Kingdom has previously asserted that the murder of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi is a deplorable crime that does not reflect the Kingdom's policy nor its institutions and reaffirms its rejection of any attempts to take the case out of the path of justice in the Kingdom."

The US has so far not publicly responded to the Saudi statement.

Thursday's vote was the first time any chamber of the US Congress had voted to pull US forces from a military conflict under the 1973 War Powers Act.

Some of President Trump's fellow Republicans defied him to pass the measure with Democrats by 56-41.

The non-binding resolution called upon Mr Trump to remove all American forces engaging in hostilities in Yemen, except for those combating Islamist extremists.

The US suspended refuelling Saudi war planes last month, and Thursday's resolution - if it were ultimately passed into law - would prohibit that practice from resuming.

The Senate then unanimously passed a resolution blaming Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi's murder on 2 October, and insisting that the kingdom hold accountable those responsible.

I hadn't heard of this — it seems a bit ironic given the right's incessant criticism of the Obama administration's return of money owed to Iran:

How the US sent $12bn in cash to Iraq. And watched it vanish

Quote:
The US flew nearly $12bn in shrink-wrapped $100 bills into Iraq, then distributed the cash with no proper control over who was receiving it and how it was being spent.

The staggering scale of the biggest transfer of cash in the history of the Federal Reserve has been graphically laid bare by a US congressional committee.

New report shows Russia used every major social media tool to help Trump

Quote:
Washington: A report prepared for the Senate that provides the most sweeping analysis yet of Russia’s disinformation campaign around the 2016 election found the operation used every major social media platform to deliver words, images and videos tailored to voters’ interests to help elect US President Donald Trump - and worked even harder to support him while in office.

The report, a draft of which was obtained by The Washington Post, is the first to study the millions of posts provided by major technology firms to the Senate Intelligence Committee, led by Republican Senator Richard Burr, its chairman, and Democrat Senator Mark Warner. The bipartisan panel hasn’t said if it endorses the findings. It plans to release it publicly along with another study later this week.

@hightor,
It's quite big over here. One of the main reasons IS did so well was because the Iraqi army had thousands of phantom soldiers. The soldiers didn't exist but they still drew a wage.

A son of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu says Facebook blocked him for 24 hours amid a spat over several posts railing against Palestinians and Muslims.

Last week, Facebook removed a post by Yair Netanyahu in which he called for "avenging the deaths" of two Israeli soldiers killed by a Palestinian.

A post in which the 27-year-old said he would prefer if "all Muslims leave the land of Israel" was also taken down.

He called Facebook "thought police". But it accused him of hate speech.

Mr Netanyahu drew widespread criticism last year after he posted a meme mocking some of his father's critics, including billionaire financier George Soros, which the Anti-Defamation League said was anti-Semitic.

He also faced a public backlash over his reported failure to pick up his dog's poo.

On Sunday, Mr Netanyahu took to Twitter to express his anger at his 24-hour ban from Facebook, calling the move "unbelievable".

His tweet included a screenshot of a deleted Facebook post that criticised the site for taking down his call to avenge the deaths of the soldiers who were shot and killed in the occupied West Bank on Thursday.

In it he warned that "there will never be peace with those monsters in the form of men that have called themselves 'Palestinians' since 1964" [the founding date of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO)].

"The thought police of the radical progressives at Facebook have reached me as well!" Mr Netanyahu's Facebook post said.

"Hamas, Hezbollah and the Iranian regime have official pages on Facebook. There are also endless pages calling for the destruction of Israel and the murder of Jews. Thousands of violent and extreme left-wing posts against me and my family, including threats of physical violence and immoral murder threats.

"All of these do not violate Facebook's community rules."

A Facebook spokesperson said Mr Netanyahu had "posted several posts which included hate speech", violating its community standards.

"Due to that, this content was removed from our platform as we would do for anyone posting similar content about any protected characteristic.

"Following this, Yair Netanyahu decided to share a screenshot of a removed post and called people to share it - which is the same as writing the hate speech all over again."

The spokesperson said Facebook would continue to enforce its policy.

"In addition, we want to emphasise that we never remove posts for criticising the company and the claim that we are censoring criticism of the company on the platform is plainly untrue."

Is there a report about everyone else like the MSM, Hollywood, or elite wanna-bes, plus the liberal bias on the internet trying to defeat Trump? I do not think Russia could be more devious than our own fascists and many of their outside interests.

@coldjoint,
What do you think is the reason for the apparent dislike of Trump? I mean, you act all surprised, like the guy is so appealing you just can't understand why everyone didn't vote for him? You seem so shocked that he's regularly taken to task for the content of his tweets and for telling outright lies? You can't quite figure out why he has to suffer the indignity of having his campaign committee's ties to Russia investigated? You get all defensive when his lackeys are indicted and when his appointees resign in disgrace? You think his crooked business dealings and fake biography should be held up for admiration?

It's really pretty amusing that you have to attribute his low standing in opinion polls and in the international community to "elite wanna-bes" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean), "Hollywood" (where he has plenty of celebrity admirers), the MSM (whose job it is to cover Trump's presidency), and some illusory "liberal bias on the internet" (which simply reflects the guy's lack of political stature and the volume of criticism his incompetence generates) — instead of using all these rationalization and excuses, why not just face up to the fact that we elected a pig-in-a-poke in the first place?

No, it is pretty amusing that his popularity (approval rating) has consistently stayed in the middle or high forties for two years and his popularity is about the same as Obama's in his first term, if not higher.

@coldjoint,
The Gallup polls show favorable opinions in the low forties and high thirties and consistently high disapproval ratings. The guy is supposed to be president of all the people — he hasn't expanded his base at all.
