Ok, cj, you're right. Muhammad did teach to kill the infidel. He also promoted peace. Those two notions aren't reconcilable for you, I get it.
The Bible says some horrible stuff too, like an eye for an eye. Yet Christians don't go around poking people's eyes out.
The thing is, "we" as in the world have to be able to get along. There's tons of religions, all teach love. Here's a list:

Jesus and Muhammad were contemporaries, they knew about each other but didn't interact with one other. But, in effect, they were fighting the same battle - stopping the repression of their people.
Radicalization is nothing new, it's been around for centuries. You can stomp your foot and shout it from the rooftops, but Islam isn't going away anytime soon. It's a fact we all get to live with or die for.
