I see challenging all this as next to hopeless.

I hear you. My only compensation is imagining the remnant conservative white minority shaking their heads with regret in thirty years wondering why they did so much to discourage birth control back in the day.

Liberty requires both, that is why they are protected rights in our Constitution.

It looks hopeless but it may not necessarily be. It's when you touch bottom that you can rebound.

I see the best way of finding the truth is to look for the posts with a zero or negative rating. Nothing has changed.

A fool spouting lies will always find an audience in your country, but it has nothing to see with the strength of your institutions. It has a lot to see with the average IQ of your compatriots.

I have a feeling you think that deliberately insulting America and Americans will get my goat.

If so, you're mistaken.

Like the political rants of Hollywood's idiot leftists during award ceremonies, your anti-American claptrap is no longer irritating, it's simply tedious.

I think this chart is racist nonsense, but lookee here: France and the US are tied, and Italy has us both beat! (Must be all the Africans we have living in our countries)

WOKE REPORT: Senate Democrats would lose FIVE seats in Trump states based on new polling!

That is good news for the country. It means Trump's agenda will advance and the gains in two or six years should ruin the Democratic party, even though they are doing a great job doing just that already.

@revelette1,
A bit more on Gore
Quote:
Gore’s work in recent years has included defending redistricting plans pushed by Republican leaders in Virginia, South Carolina, New York and Florida. Critics have said the plans not only were designed to put more Republicans in Congress but were drawn in a manner to weaken the overall influence of black voters by packing them into fewer districts.

Gore also defended Florida Gov. Rick Scott after the Florida secretary of state launched an effort to purge voting rolls there of people it deemed ineligible to vote. A federal court eventually ruled against Scott and the state’s efforts to purge noncitizens, saying the Florida governor’s plan violated the National Voter Registration Act because many legal voters has been erroneously removed. A disproportionate number of those targeted for removal were “Hispanic, Democrats or independent-minded voters,” while Republicans and whites were the least likely, according to reports in The Miami Herald.

Alright, I was trying to get at you. The proliferation of conspiracy theories is a global phenomenon linked to the Internet. But still, the general health of a culture, the quality of public education, the professionalism of its "opinion makers", its educators and its journalists (at all levels), its politicians and intellectuals, all this has to play a role in how the social body reacts to the disease. If that's what you meant by "institutions" then I agree with you.

This isn't limited to any one country! In fact, it could only exist in Utopia. Are you implying you live in Utopia? Name just 1 country in which your implication is true.

Bravo! However, we have to be honest here and acknowledge that if these voters are not packing heat, they are not free. "Liberty" requires guns, not voting.

Funny you mention this. I live in one of the "Great" red states in which you can register to vote and show proof of ID at the polls with proof of NRA membership but not with a Federal Employee ID. One can NOT get a Federal Employee ID without an FBI investigation. Go figure?

Of course, neither of us has to "go figure". This is just another example of how modern Republicans rig the system to the end of some electoral advantage.

@blatham,
After I wrote this I checked the laws and I believe the federal courts made states remove these election provisions. I know I witnessed these rules in force at my polling place quit a few years ago.

It really got stuck in my head that these laws were in force. I think that it was Texas who put through laws that were so onerous no court would allow them. They got some of the laws already passed and in operation in other states revoked as Unconstitutional.
