It is a testament to the liberals' lack of a good argument that the only thing they can use to back their position is childish name-calling.

Hey man, you (really) love your guns and ammo. Just calling it like I see it.

But you missed the part of my post that was inquisitive and chose to focus on the unimportant part.

Who ARE you going to vote for now? You claim to be a democrat on many issues (except gun control)....what if your president breaks your heart on the same issue?

@oralloy,
Quote:
I'm already on record saying I will vote for a third party in 2018 if the Republicans don't get some pro-gun legislation passed.

Like that makes any difference to anyone, anywhere.

"The general public are viewed as no more than ignorant and meddlesome outsiders, a bewildered herd. And it's the responsible men who have to make decisions and to protect society from the trampling and rage of the bewildered herd. Now since it's a democracy they - the herd, that is - are permitted occasionally to lend their weight to one or another member of the responsible class. That's called an election." -- Noam Chomsky

The bewildered herd, willing to accept any old story/fable/fantasy their governments feed them.

Molten and vaporized WTC structural steel, including WTC7, that never saw any "hijackers" and the munching herd looks up and then continues feeding.

It looks like Kushner will soon be visiting a taylor to be fitted for new pinstripe jumpsuits. And, this isn't to play for the Yankees.

I have a good feeling Mueller would also love to get the goods on Roger Stone. That guy has been just begging to be put in prison for quit a few years now. I think he too may just get his wish!

@Finn dAbuzz,
Quote:
I still think you're a pompous elitist, but this comment of yours is certainly indicative of the snide disregard for the riff raff's point of view which you share with too many liberals and that led to Trump be elected.

So, now you label Glennn as "riffraff". Rolling Eyes

It's interesting that you ascribe so much importance to the habits and opinions of a class of people based solely on their low income and lack of advanced education ("riffraff" — you used the word, I didn't). From my experience I've found it impossible to gauge a person's political philosophy and acumen by looking at such superficial characteristics.

Holding whole classes of people up as "the salt of the earth" who are supposed to exhibit some sort of nobility is merely accepting a mythology which runs back to Jesus (the meek shall inherit the earth, etc) and was appropriated by Marxism (along with the Hebrew mythology of a "day of reckoning") and made part of the progressive canon. Such concepts serve a purpose but it's silly to take them literally. It's really better to think of people as individuals. It's interesting to see the right picking up the banner of the (white) poor. Nationalism and populism have been combined before; the results haven't been particularly positive.
Quote:
You're tipping your hand here as well: You obviously want all guns banned, regardless of their purpose.

I don't see how you can derive that from I wrote in response to Glennn. While I don't believe that effective home security is dependent on owning a firearm, at least Glennn is realistic enough to know that an assault-style weapon is unnecessary for this job (or any other application a civilian might choose to use a gun for.) The word "overkill" comes to mind. There are more than enough choices of non-militarized weaponry available for home defense, hunting, and having fun plinking in the local gravel pit.

@McGentrix,
Notice the tactics at work here:

First there's this statement:
Quote:
Americans also don't "need" expensive sports cars, Versace dresses, diamond necklaces, homes with 3000 square feet, HBO, motor boats, fish radar, 15 different fast food franchises in every town, hot pockets, 32GB of RAM, smart phones, or a whole litany of other things...

As if our vaunted love of "freedom" is at core the right and ability to indulge in unlimited consumerism. What a squalid evocation of our national purpose! You may have let the cat out of the bag there.

Then, hoping to clinch the argument:
Quote:
Would you say the average abortion is a "want" or a "need"?
Stomach surgery, "want" or "need"?
Better healthcare, "want" or "need"?

Except that medical services aren't material goods which are coveted, bought, sold, traded, and accumulated by individuals. The social consequences of denying those options and services to people are categorically different from the privation you may experience because the government denied you the opportunity to buy armor-piercing ammunition for your Barrett 50.

@hightor,
sounds a bit like the Chinese version of "freedom" , where the leader is looked up to because hes been able to "remove the chains of term limits".

Really, there's just no telling how this might have come about.
Quote:
The number of reported anti-Semitic incidents in the United States surged 57 percent in 2017, according to an annual report by the Anti-Defamation League.

The organization’s Audit of Anti-Semitic Incidents, released Tuesday, found 1,986 such incidents in 2017, compared with 1,267 in 2016. That increase was the largest in a single year since the A.D.L. began tracking in 1979.

Poor Ms. Hicks. Apparently Trump 'berated her and asked her how she could be so stupid' after she admitted to telling lies for the White House.

And the president is now referring to his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, as "Mr. Magoo".
