One question that hasn't been answered is what part of the putain do you eat the cheese curds out of? Slappy was in Montreal recently. Maybe he can address that one.

I have actually had some wonderful, upscale interperetations of poutine, most notably two versions made with hand-cut Yukon gold fries and lamb jus, one topped with chevre, the other with chauorce cheese and seared foie gras. I doubt however, that Slappy's poutine came from such respectful places, so you know, I had to ask.

Wow...dressin' up the poutine! What a concept...let's see... how 'bout "Dirty American Fries"

A bowl of fries with dollops of sour cream, caviar and finely chopped shallots?

How about "Freedom Flies" (no that'ds not an Asian accent!):

Chips with finely chopped GWB election posters blended in, topped with a little mashed 'crow'!

I did not eat any of that. I did grab something at Harvey's, the worst burger place I've ever been to.

Harvey's is making an attempt to up the quality of their fast food, by introducing both the sirloin burger and the Black Angus burger. Compared to a decent pub, they still kinda suck, but it is an improvement, and better than McDonald's. Harvey's, in case you didn't know, is owned by Cara foods, whose real claim to fame is making airplane food. Caveat emptor.

Poutain is real comfort food on a cold drizzly day. And you can get good versions in any shopping mall food court. Yum
