It's not that we dont' think bad thoughts or say contreversial things. It's just that we can't employ the same hate-filled invective as the conservatives can; the policies that most liberals call for just don't support that sort of rhetoric.

I mean, can you see a liberal getting pissed off and blubbering like Rush does about how more people need health care?

Oh dear. Call a lumberjack and get that plank pulled out yer eye!

Please repeat: No political party possesses superior ethics or traits than any another political party....

Don't be brainwashed!

We want the same goals you do--we just have a better way of getting it done.

Arrogant, self-righteous egotists are not exclusive to ANY party...
But "bleeding heart" liberals tend to suffer from a surplus of compassion and of Charity... whereas "conservatives" tend to make OTHERS suffer for the conservatives' deficit of those qualities.

Simon Legree and Ebenezer Scrooge were NOT "liberals".

Too fair minded to create good conflict... I am still laughing...

I guess you are right though, the good part is probably an exagerration.

I guess you missed my point by failing to read my entire statement or understanding the Twain quote.

I did point out that there were looneys on the left as well as the right. The real problem is people that are so blinded or uninformed or ignorant they can't see anything outside their own beliefs.

So McGentrix can you point to any uninformed or ignorant poeple on the right? Or are you proving my point by claiming only the left acts looney?

I believe Magus has a point there.

Sophia: Right, neither party has all the right answers. This is especially evident when one party has all the control. The Dems went too far too fast when they had all the control.

This President and congress though have set records for irresponsible government and mortgaging our future.

Mortgaging "our" future...?
What about succeeding generations?
Aren't we selling out the next generation, selling their patrimony for a mess of pottage?

Whatever happened to the Tribes of Easter Island?

"Our countries future" It is most definitely the greed of the current generation's compassionate conservatives (what an oxymoron) passing the buck to future generations.

Loonies on the right are the religious fanatics, isolationists, supremists, and the anarchists. I cringe when the networks put somebody like Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson up there to speak for the Republicans and they way too often do that for the most hot button issues. While I do not consider Pat Buchanan to be a true looney, he is far too isolationist for me to consider him mainstream conservative.

Compassionate conservatism is a valid term however based on the premise that it is more compassionate to assist and encourage people to productivity, excellence, and self sufficiency than it is to make them wards of and dependent on the government.

"Passing the buck' to future generations can be in the form of debt and it can also be in he form of mandates and entitlements.

And personally I think it doesn't really matter whether the label is Republican or Democrat, far too many politicians these days are using our money to buy our vote and that is far more important to them than any future consequences for the legislation they pass or oppose.
