@McGentrix,
I don't think it is a simile - I think it's a piss poor analogy.

@hingehead,
Fascists have a lot of problems with basic language, if they knew what words meant they wouldn't be voting Trump.

With this as with everything else Trump is a thief.

Quote:
Donald Trump Jr's tweet comparing Skittles to refugees has caused a furore on social media. In a new development, the man who took the photo of the Skittles has revealed himself to be a former refugee.

David Kittos, 48, from Guildford, UK, woke up to find an image he had posted to Flickr in January 2010 had become embroiled in a political controversy.

"This was not done with my permission, I don't support his politics and I would never take his money to use it," Mr Kittos told the BBC.

"In 1974, when I was six-years old, I was a refugee from the Turkish occupation of Cyprus so I would never approve the use of this image against refugees."
Mr Kittos is unsure whether he will take action over the use of his image by the Trump campaign.

"I would like the Trump campaign to delete the image, but they are probably not interested in what I have to say," he said.

"I was thinking about getting lawyers involved but I don't know if I have the patience.

"This isn't about the money for me. They could have just bought a cheap image from a micro stock library. This is pure greed from them. I don't think they care about my feelings. They should not be stealing an image full stop."

Most people think bigotry and racism is bad, you wouldn't understand, it's a human thing.

Ironically, neither do you. You're missed your shot by a foot. The text in question is technically a metaphor.
Simile
Quote:
What is the difference between Metaphor and Simile?

While a simile approximates a thing to another, metaphor treats one as a substitute for another. A metaphor is complete in itself and does not need an explanation. However, you can use one after other similes to explain your meaning. If I say a great book is like a good meal, I am using a simile to let people think that the book is as delicious as a meal. On the other hand, I can use a metaphor to have the same effect when I say that the book is a food for thought. Here, I am using a metaphor as I am not directly comparing a book with a delicious meal but suggesting that the book is great to satiate the hunger of those who read books for this purpose. If I come across a friend who is a voracious reader, the book is not like a meal to him, it is food for him.

This post maybe a tad pedantic but at least it isn't profascist.

@tsarstepan,
Yep, 40 years since grade school, so I guess I used the wrong word. Ironic though? No. I had a 50/50 shot and couldn't remember which used "like or as" and was too lazy to go look. Does that change the message though if I use metaphor or simile? No. It's stupid false outrage on the liberal side of things either way.

@woiyo,
You were separated from ideas a very long time ago. Your need to overuse the exclamation mark is symptomatic of someone with very little to say. Reducing the refugees crisis to an over simplistic analogy is deeply offensive and inhuman.

@izzythepush,
No, it is not really all that difficult. You have to make sure you are bringing in LEGITIMATE refugees and this administration is not insuring that will happen. You see, sometimes, to get the dim witted to understand the problem, people use analogies to help them understand the problem. Hence SKITTLES for people like you.

What changes do you propose making to the screening process?

DONALD TRUMP JR.’S tweet comparing Syrian refugees to Skittles has deep roots. The concept dates back at least to 1938 and a children’s book called Der Giftpilz, or The Toadstool, in which a mother explains to her son that it only takes one Jew to destroy an entire people.

#EatTheSkittles

Quote:
"If I gave you a bowl of skittles and three of them were poison would you still eat them?"

"Are the other skittles human lives?"

"What?"

"Like. Is there a good chance. A really good chance. I would be saving someone from a war zone and probably their life if I ate a skittle?"

"Well sure. But the point-"

"I would eat the skittles."

"Ok-well the point is-"

"I would GORGE myself on skittles. I would eat every single ******* skittle I could find. I would STUFF myself with skittles. And when I found the poison skittle and died I would make sure to leave behind a legacy of children and of friends who also ate skittle after skittle until there were no skittles to be eaten. And each person who found the poison skittle we would weep for. We would weep for their loss, for their sacrifice, and for the fact that they did not let themselves succumb to fear but made the world a better place by eating skittles.

Because your REAL question...the one you hid behind a shitty little inaccurate, insensitive, dehumanizing racist little candy metaphor is, IS MY LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF MEN, WOMEN, AND TERRIFIED CHILDREN...

... and what kind of monster would think the answer to that question... is yes?"

@ehBeth,
The process can't be trusted. Obama and his administration have already proven that the bringing in of refugee's is more important than vetting them. They can publish anything they want to, but we all know they will do what they want when they want when it comes to immigration. Obama and his people have been finding ways of getting around immigration law since he became President. How many EO/EA's have been written to bypass congress and approve illegal immigrants to stay in the US?

Sometimes the analogy is created by dimwits though. Like in this case.

Here's what Trumps bowl looked like.
