My two favorites of Tamara Lempika, a Polish artist famous for her Art Deco portraits of socialites. She was something of a rock star during the Jazz Age in Paris. The classic bohemian artist, she was part of the artistic in-crowd, and notorious for her bi-sexual love affairs.

Very angular. A touch of the influence of cubism, but, at least in her hey-day, she didn't embrace it fully.

Sorry, I put the img tags around it, dunno why that was not picked up.

Maybe I'll try it with 2 at the beginning and end..

Nope. I give up. I've done this hundreds of times, something goofy is going on.

@ossobucotemp,
I tried to chase that down, and it was not #107, grrr. Meantime, nabbing the photo didn't work on Bing either. Maybe it's this computer... I wouldn't be surprised.

The actual name of the painting is Interior with a Book by Richard Diebenkorn.

Meantime, I tried to copy a Caravaggio, and ran into the same problem, so it
not that Diebenkorn isn't copyable. I could do this just yesterday, so it's frustrating. However, the day before, Apple shut down the ability to use iPages, anybody, not just me. What I get for having a 10 year old iMac.

@edgarblythe,
I apologize for that rigmarole yesterday - I couldn't overcome that the http thing landed in the wrong place, and started to think the painting photos were somehow blocked to copying, or I was, somehow.

Today I've posted a some photos I like on my Time for Something Pleasant thread, ta da! no problemo!
I'll have to work this out - I just can't not be able to post art, eh? but I'll try to not fool around with it within your art thread.

@ossobucotemp,
Here's a version of Caravaggio's "The Taking of Christ".
It was missing for several centuries until discovered in an Irish Monastery and then it was verified by two graduate students in the 1920's. It was the subject of John Harr
s 2006 book,
"The Quest for a Missing Painting". The book was pretty good, because it was a forensic discussion of what was done in the ensuing years to further verify it. Its in the Dublin Museum on an indefinite
loan from some abbey .

@farmerman,
It's hard for me to pick a favorite artist, as a bunch of them dance a circle of favorites, but Caravaggio is my favorite favorite.. I've seen a lot of them in real life, always a joy. Didn't know about that one..
