in 1984, what percenatge of the population was <25K? >75K? In between?

It's important because statistics can be used to prove any point you want them to make. What percent of the middle class doesn't count because they make more than 75K now? that doesn't seem to be discussed...

I agree with you about the use of statistics. Perhaps someone who is more knowledgeable than I can dig the numbers up and interpret them. What the article I linked to indicates is that in the last four years the number of people in the 'middle' are fewer than they were. You may have a different idea of what the 'middle' is.
